For some reason the email never got through to us, so Shulie just sent it to me directly and I'm forwarding it. Please see below. 

Greg, I have an accounting of all of the money I paid to Janice that I can send to you, and Sherry will submit her final cost to you. Would you have the info needed to put together expenditures YTD? The changeover is happening October 1 so it doesn't need to be done right this moment or anything. 

Shulie said he knows his cleaning staff can't maintain the level of cleanliness needed in the playroom and is open to ideas of how best to do that.

Dear East River Playroom Committee:

 

The Board of Directors of East River Housing has decided that East River Housing will be overseeing its playroom moving forward. As with all other East River amenities, playroom membership fees will be collected by the East River management office. This change will take effect beginning on October 1, 2013, at which point the current playroom key system will be disabled. Membership for current members will continue provided that you transfer the membership fees to the coop office prior to the October 1 date with a list of all members. Also, please remit all available playroom funds, with an accounting with respect to how the membership fees have been spent year-to-date, to the management office to be used for the playroom moving forward.

 

A detailed memo outlining the operations of the playroom moving forward will be distributed to all East River and Hillman cooperators in the near future.

Hi everyone, sorry if i missed the answer to this somewhere in all the correspondence.  I've been traveling a lot and haven't been able to keep up properly.  Did East River Housing say why they are taking over management of the playroom?

Not really. I haven't pressed him... "Issues" and personality conflicts. He's alluded but not really said. 

I can certainly push him for reasons but it's been coming for a long time.

I was more just curious if something happened or if there was anything here to be learned.  It seems strange that they want to manage it yet they feel they won't be able to keep it properly cleaned.

It is... I'm pretty sure that the impetus for the change came from the Board. I think there is someone, or multiple people, who want it to happen and then it was sort of dumped in Shulie's lap to deal with. I think they will largely end up where they are now, only Maintenance will do the more broad cleaning and Management will be in charge of the money and keys. They still need parent volunteers to deal with everything else. We had actually talked about wanting them to take over money and keys. I am a bit uneasy about them being in charge of funds, but Shulie seems to want the playroom to work well and presumably will be willing to allocate resources accordingly.
