Dear East River Playroom Member,

As you may know tonight is East River Board elections. We would like the playroom to remain a neutral place free of politics however we do know that there is discussion about how the playroom runs and we think you should know as well.

The playroom committee is in favor of

  • Allowing parties in the playroom to continue
  • Keeping playroom membership open to Hillman and Amalgamated residents
  • Management upgrading security and safety measures for our children
  • Management collecting funds and bookiing party rentals
  • Management collecting membership payment and running key disbursement
  • Volunteers self-managing cleaning, community, rules, decor and supplies
We urge you, and your friends, to ask candidates their position on the playroom before casting their vote.

Cooperatively Yours,
East River Playroom Volunteers

I still think that may be leading too much. I would delete the bullet points and simply say, "... how the play room runs (who can have access, should it be rented for parties, etc) and we think you should ask the candidates about their position on the playroom before casting a vote."

Best,
Brian

I respectfully disagree. I know that there are people who are letting their personal feelings cloud their politics and they are not out for the best interest of cooperators. I also know that there are people who don't care if there are amenities. If we don't take a strong stance we might not have use of the playroom. At least those of us in Hillman. And that means the playroom is then a financial liability for ER. How about this revision.

Dear East River Playroom Member,

As you may know tonight is East River Board elections. We would like the playroom to remain a neutral place free of politics however we do know that there is discussion about how the playroom runs and we think you should know the key topics up for discussion as well.

  • Parties in the playroom
  • Who is eligible for playroom membership
  • Management's role
Please, ask candidates their position on the playroom before casting your vote.

Cooperatively Yours,
East River Playroom Volunteers
