The East River Playroom Committee hopes your family enjoyed a wonderful summer. We are happy to report back to you with some positive updates in anticipation of more visitors to the playroom in the upcoming months...
Maintenance has resolved some outstanding issues and we now have a brand new a/c. We continue to work towards a permanent fix to the leaking pipes and other potential safety issues. Speaking of which, our front door now closes properly. To help keep out unpaid members please do not let people in the playroom unless they have their own key or their name is on the paid list on the bulletin board. Security also has a list.
We are very excited to have a cleaning person 7x/week! We employ two excellent workers, Janice and Carmen. Their duties are cleaning the bathroom, mopping the floors and cleaning the toys. Your job is to put toys back where they belong before you leave.
Summer Spruce Needs YOU
The playroom will be closed Monday, September 3rd at 4p.m. through Saturday, September 8 for painting. Help is needed in order to unbolt furniture to prep for painting. We will then need help assembling replacement pieces and restoring existing pieces. This will count towards your 20 volunteer hours for reduced membership. You can look forward to an improved infant area, new toys and revised entrance.
Please respond to this email if you are available to volunteer on Monday, September 3rd at 4 p.m. to help prep the room for painting or Saturday, September 8th at 10 a.m. to put the room back together!
Security
We are sad to report that there have been a couple of incidents. As volunteers, parents of children in the room and your friendly neighbors we ask that you and your caregiver reach out to security immediately should a situation arise where assistance is needed. Security is there to help and it is preferable to get them involved rather than try to resolve the issue yourself.
Coming this Fall.... Open House. Details to follow.
Best,
Lauren Forsch and Jill Zelkind
