ACTION ITEMS FOR 10/9/2025 CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON THE NAVIGATION CENTER

The approval of the purchase of the homeless navigation center just south of the Oltorf/I-35 intersection will be on the City Council Agenda on October 9. The purchase is Agenda Item 17. Agenda Item 17 is on the Consent Agenda, which means that there will be no discussion of this item by City Council. As many as 100 agenda items can all be approved, all at one time, with no discussion. City Council changed the rules in July of this year. Before, if two citizens registered to speak in opposition to an item, the item was taken off the Consent Agenda. The rule change in July removed the ability of citizens to request an item be removed from the Consent Agenda. Only a Councilmember can request that an item be removed from the Consent Agenda. At the meeting at the Good Shepherd Church on 10/3, District 9 Councilmember Qadri said that District 3 Councilmember Velasquez needs to request the removal of Item 17 from the Consent Agenda, because the property is in his Council District.
