to Erlounge Wellington
Because of the increased interest in functional programming and
the amount of functional programmers turning up to the erlang user
group over time we decided to morph the erlounge Wellington into a
Wellington FP
users group. We hope to have monthly presentations covering a
variety
of FP topics and in a number of languages (Scala, F#, Erlang, Haskell
and more). FP techniques are often very similar in different
languages so we hope the talks will be of interest even if they are
not in your
language of choice.
We are going to kick off with a presentation by Blair Nilsson
entitled
"Beginning Scala" on Thursday 26th August. As you probably know
Scala is a FP language that targets the JVM. This makes it an
excellent
choice for Java developers looking for an FP language that lets them
use their existing Java code.
Title : Beginning Scala
Synopsis : An introduction to the Scala programming language
Presenter : Blair Nilsson
Date : Thursday 26th August
Time : 6pm - 7pm
Location : Catalyst IT have kindly agreed to host the presentation.
