TheTraffic Engineering Manual is issued and updated by the MnDOT Office of Traffic Engineering. The purpose of the TEM is to establish uniform guidelines and procedures, primarily for use by MnDOT personnel. Uniform application of guidelines and procedures aids the road user in recognizing and understanding the various traffic control devices used throughout the United States. This manual presents engineering information typically required in the design and application of traffic control devices for trunk highways.

The purpose of the FDOT Traffic Engineering Manual (TEM) is to provide traffic engineering standards and guidelines to be used on the State Highway System. The manual covers the process whereby standards and guidelines are adopted, as well as chapters devoted to highway signs, traffic signals, markings, and specialized operational topics.

The TEM is available in electronic format only. If you are interested in receiving an email update when new bulletins or an update is issued, please sign up to receive E-updates through the Contact Mailer. Once registered, click on the Traffic Engineering Manual under Publications.

Gaydon, UK, 18 July 2024: JLR has teamed up with The Washing Machine Project to help transform the lives of thousands of women and girls in South Africa by building ten community manual washing machines to help a community in need in Diepsloot, Johannesburg.

The Clean Clothes Campaign aims to help tackle the burden of handwashing clothes and promote gender equality by relieving women and children of up to 20,000 hours of chores a week, so they can fully enjoy their rights to work, education, good health and leisure time.

JLR stands firm in its commitment to take care of the communities and environments in which it operates and make a positive, lasting impact on the world. Its Engage for Good programme aims to deliver this mission through partnerships with NGOs, employee volunteering, vehicle supply and project funding.

This Master of Engineering Study Manual provides detailed statements of the requirements and procedure for completing for the M.Eng professional degree offered by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. This manual also includes other useful information about the department, its faculty, and its research facilities.

The Graduate College ( ) publishes the Graduate College Handbook for Students, Faculty and Staff ( ) stating the various Graduate College requirements and regulations that apply to all graduate students. Some additional departmental requirements are more stringent than those of the Graduate College. Thus, the information in this manual supplements, and in many cases supersedes, the information given in the Graduate College Handbook. This manual includes all the departmental rules and regulations that apply to ECE's M.Eng together with many of the most commonly encountered Graduate College regulations. Students should consult both the online Graduate College Handbook and this manual when planning or revising their program of studies.

If there is any doubt regarding the interpretation of any regulation or requirement in this manual, or if there are questions about the graduate program involving matters not covered in this manual, please consult the ECE Graduate Adviser.

The Engineering Criteria Manual is comprised of several separate publications listed below. Three of the manuals are published together in one volume. They are the Subdivision Policy Manual, the Paving Design Criteria Manual, and the Traffic Criteria Manual. The others are separate publications. Together, the Engineering Criteria Manual establishes the engineering requirements, standards, policies, and regulations of the City Engineer. All public infrastructure and development activity shall conform to the Engineering Criteria Manual.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Compendium lists policies and procedures for managing the District of Columbia's (District) transportation network and public space. The Standards and Manuals section of the DDOT Compendium contains a full list of all Standards and Manuals.

The Standard Specifications for Highways and Structures are standard for all DDOT contracts awarded by the Mayor of the District, the Council of the District, and/or the Contracting Officer. The Standard Specifications shall also be used for all the construction activities and material control within the Public Space of the District.

This manual has been prepared to assist the DDOT and its Consultants in the inventory, inspection, appraisal, and load rating of bridges under the District's jurisdiction in accordance with the Manual for Bridge Evaluation published by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). The program detailed in this manual will help implement the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) as issued by FHWA.

The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways (MUTCD) is a document issued by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) of the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) to specify the standards by which traffic signs, road surface markings, and signals are designed, installed, and used.

The following Right-of-way (ROW) policies and procedures are intended to establish a fair and efficient process for completing ROW acquisitions and transfers, consistent with federal and local regulations.

These documents provide the policies and procedures for utility accommodation and relocation within the Public Space for DDOT construction projects. The Manual establishes a fair and efficient process for completing utility work, consistent with federal and local regulations and DDOT Standards. In addition, this Manual is intended to be the companion of the DDOT Design and Engineering Manual, and together provide the utility coordination and technical requirements required to accomplish utility accommodation and relocation in advance of or in conjunction with DDOT construction projects.

The purpose of these documents is to provide guidance to practitioners in the implementation and management of work zones throughout the District, as well as provide the basis for the developing various work zone related documents.

Policies and procedures related to graduate study in the Department of Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering are included in the Graduate Studies Manual . All students should be aware of the contents of this manual as they progress through their academic careers in CSEE. Any exceptions to these policies and procedures must be approved by the Department Chair or Director of Graduate Studies.

In accordance with the New York State Education Department (SED) regulations, the percentage of courses taken through distance education must be less than 50% of a graduate student's degree requirements. The SED policy is summarized at

Access to the Ketter Hall computing labs is a privilege provided to students in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering. All students are required to follow the CSEE Computing Lab Policies (PDF).

This is Center Hill Dam on the Caney Fork River in Lancaster, Tennessee, which forms Center Hill Lake. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District completed an Environmental Assessment under the National Environmental Policy Act to update the Center Hill Dam and Reservoir Water Control Manual. As a result of this update, the Nashville District is implementing operational changes at Center Hill. (USACE Photo by Lee Roberts)

The EA evaluated eight action alternatives, which included analyzing a period of recorded data (1998-2022), new and rehabilitated structural features, watershed characteristics, communication networks, naming conventions, changes from previously approved EAs and modern forecasting methods.

USACE selected Alternative 23 for implementation (link to public documents below). A major change includes the minimum discharge from the dam. Alternative 23 strikes a balance between all project purposes, focusing on providing well oxygenated, continuous minimum flows during the typical low-flow season when they are most needed and switching to a pulsed minimum flow during the typical non-low flow season when water quality in the forebay generally exceeds state standards. The 48-hour pulse interval during the typical low-flow season helps preserve the ability for generation to meet peak demand during critical summer months. The pulsed minimum flow during the non-low flow season allows all water to pass through hydropower turbines, maximizing power generation while meeting all project purposes.

The approved updated Water Control Manual is now in effect; however, no immediate changes to water management operations will be made until proper notice has been provided to the public. The current water management operations fall within the guidelines of the newly approved plan. As USACE begins to transition to the new operations laid out in the 2024 approved manual, the Nashville District will continue to operate as in previous years until 30 days past posting of public signs at access points along the Caney Fork or June 1, whichever comes first. This will allow users to read and understand the changes prior to them being implemented.

Flood Risk Management: Operations within the flood control pool were not changed during this update and USACE expects the project to continue to manage flood risk for the public as designed.
