Endnote X9 Full Version Free Download

I have been working on an endnote library for weeks, closing and opening it without any issues. It had clearly saved. However, yesterday, I was working on it and it crashed. Now, when I reopen it, it is back to the original version, and all my work is lost. I have looked everywhere on my computer trying to find another version of the file to no avail.
i use word 2008 for mac and downloaded the endnote x 2 trial software. i tried to use it in a word file but the endnote toolbar does not appear in word. i do not use the english version of word, but the german one. i tried with downloading the endnote x 2.0.1 update and followed the instructions but this did not do anything. i also tried the customize link in endnote a few times but this also did not work.
I have a couple issues I can not work around. First, there is a large gap between Chapter 1 and the first endnote.
Second issue, when I start the second page it starts at the bottom and not at the top. When I try to add more data it still only goes 3/4 of the way up the page. There are other problems but will start here. Thanks,

I am using .doc(x) as I am uploading to KDP and they prefer that or .pdf.
Which would be better for editing?
Yes, it is the inter-headings that I am struggling with, as you mentioned. I have downloaded and eading the Writers guide for 7.3.
My practice file is a few pages sourced from my finished (minus endnotes) but unpublished book file. My dilemma is that I am not wanting to publish portions of the book on the internet as of yet. I am in a bit of a catch 22 and unsure how to tackle this.
