Update mnesia schema in a cluster

I have a cluster of disc nodes and need to add a table to my application.  It works fine on stand alone node, but when trying to update the cluster the app fails with message stating the new table does not exist on one of the other nodes that has not yet started.  

The only way I was able to update was to remove the mnesia directly and lose my data.

If anyone knows how I can do this I would appreciate it.
