Hello everyone!

I should be around Montreal this December at some point during the week of Mon 17 to Fri 21, and my coworkers at the office and I were wondering if there would be interest in setting up some user group meeting around that time.

Let me know if there's still people around, and if they're interested :)

Regards,
Fred.

Hi Fred,

I would definitely be interested, although I already have a few evening events scheduled during that week.

I'll be commuting in from Quebec City, but I'm definitely interested.

I'm always interested, and would attend if my schedule permits (I'm not
always free on the evenings).

I'd be up for a meetup, assuming I'm not already booked on whatever
evening is selected.

It would be great to meet Erlang folks in Montreal. I have a couple developer friends who would also like to come.

thanks!

Nice, we've got a decent amount of people who seem interested.

In terms of picking a day, I'm partial to either Wednesday or Thursday myself (I'm arriving later Tuesday night and should be gone Friday night).

Here's a problem for you though. Our office, where we would have hosted the group meeting, is currently being renovated (I'm working remotely and I learned about it just today, my bad). I've been told we'd be fine hosting user groups after the renovations are done, but for now, we'd have to find an alternative location.

Does anybody have a suggestion? An alternative? If we can't find anything, I'm still definitely interested in finding a restaurant to go eat somewhere (or a pub to hang at, or whatever) to meet people from the local Erlang community, even if it ends up being something much less formal.

Tell me what you think, and if you have ideas. I've never organized something like this before and I'm in Saguenay, so help is definitely appreciated :)

Regards,
Fred.

It appears my previous attempt at a message (Dec 05) didn't make it to
this list. Sorry for that.

I've discussed things with coworkers and we were thinking about doing it
on Thursday (20), at around 18:30. Our office is being renovated, but we
should be fine there until we're a very large group of people.

The address and a map can be found at: http://adgear.com/contact/

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Fred.

Hi Fred!

Telephonic will have between 1 to 5 folks that would like to come.

Will you be okay for space? Do we have any idea of the total number of folks coming?

cheers,
Graham

I've been told that under 15 people would be fine, and counting 5 people
from Telephonic would put us to about 12 people assuming everyone who
replied is coming alone.

So far it could work, but I'll keep you updated as we get more replies
(which I figure you'll be able to track, too).

Regards,
Fred.

Hi Fred,

How are things looking for our meet-up this evening? What time would you like to meet?

Hi Graham,

The meetup is still fully planned, and we have no idea how many people we'll get as of this post.

It's planned for 18:30 tonight, at our Montreal AdGear Offices: 481 Avenue Viger West, suite 300 (http://adgear.com/contact/).

Regards,
Fred.

There should be room. At this point we're not holding count, but I
wouldn't expect 50 people to show up :)

Hi Fred,

You're not going to believe this! Most if our office is now fighting a cold today.

So, in order not to get you all sick before the holidays, we'll be missing the meeting tonight.

Thank you for offering your office to meet. It will be great to see you at the next meeting!

thank you,
Graham

Thank you, Fred and company, for organizing this meetup. Nice people, informative and engaging discussions. Well worth the trip!

As discussed, I am looking for Erlang enthusiasts to help me with further development of a neural network based nearest neighbour classifier. Further information can be found here:

Click on HammingNN in the tag cloud, and the HammingNN Classifier under the "Tools" heading.

I am very interested in getting feedback!

Henry
