Aim: The ICDL computer course is geared towards those participants who wish to reach a good level of computer literacy allowing them to work competently and confidently on popular software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.

Delivery: The Microsoft ICDL course is delivered by an Irish Computer Society (ICS) approved tutor. The class is structured with the use of a power-point presentation, tutorials, workbook material and each participant will have hands-on computer practice.

What award do I receive? At the end of each module the participant will sit an ICDL Exam for that particular module. After successful completion of all 7 ICDL Exam Modules, each candidate will be awarded an ICS-skills ICDL certificate or alternatively if 4 modules (Documents, Spreadsheets, Internet & Email and Computer Essentials) are completed then an ICDL Essentials certification will be awarded.

After successful completion of all 7 ICDL Exam Modules (ICDL Certification) or 4 ICDL Exam Modules (ICDL Essential Certification), each participant will then receive an internationally recognised certificate awarded by the Irish Computer Society.

ICDL Workforce is designed to build the digital skills of the modern workplace. These modules will help employees and candidates demonstrate their effective use of technology with skills and knowledge that can be further developed by progressing to the ICDL Professional modules and beyond.

ICDL Workforce is a test of practical skills and competencies and consists of seven (7) separate modules covering computer theory and practice. To achieve the ICDL Workforce certificate, the Candidate must successfully pass a test in seven (7) modules.

For the BCS Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills (ICDL Core), you will need to pass a test for each of the seven modules. The tests are 45 minutes in length and are taken under normal test conditions. We provide an automated test system so you will find out your result as soon as you have completed a test.

Unless you are a member of University staff, you will be asked to provide photo ID (e.g. passport, driving licence) prior to sitting each test. This is a requirement enforced by the BCS and you will not be able to sit a test without it.

We encourage you to complete a diagnostic test prior to sitting any or all of your assessments. Diagnostic tests are invaluable in preparing you for the test experience and for identifying possible weak areas of knowledge. If you fail a test, you are welcome to discuss any areas of concern with your invigilator before booking a resit.

If you have any learning or disability support needs, requests for reasonable adjustments must be made to the Test Centre Manager and approved by the BCS before taking a test. These may include (but are not limited to) granting additional time, using assistive technology or using a translation dictionary if English is not your first language. Please let us know your requirements at least four weeks before you sit your first test. Any special arrangements will then remain in place for subsequent tests.

You must be registered for the ICDL and have paid the BCS registration and test fees and have at least one paid exam in hand before booking. You should also ensure that your knowledge and skills meet the standards required of the relevant ICDL syllabus.

Study Material: Students will get a printable soft copy of the study material developed by ICDL. Along with study material, they will also get revision papers for preparation for exams.

Entry Requirement: Since these are professional qualifications so there is no entry requirement. Candidates of any age and grade can join ICDL. However, for professional/specific module candidate should have done base modules for the same.

Exam Retake: All the above fees are inclusive of ICDL registration and the first free attempt at the exam. If a student wants to retake an exam he/she needs to pay extra fees for the same.

Award of Certifications: A candidate will get certification from ICDL Africa after passing each exam module. This certificate will include a list of all the module exams passed by candidates till then.

In order to take ICDL exams, you need to purchase one ICDL Skills Card and seven exam modules. The Skills Card is a virtual card on which all the ICDL exams that you pass are registered. The ICDL Skills Card does not have an expiration date.

You can purchase Skills Card and exams only by using the online payment form present in your you@B diary. Bocconi University offers a special price for its students: 60 euros for the ICDL Skills Card and 18 euros per exam.

After completing the payment, Bocconi students will be able to register for exams autonomously through their yoU@B diary, by clicking on the link "Registration for ICDL exams at BOCCONI" in the "IT Certifications" box.

You will be free to choose the day and time as long as time slots are available. If the program does not allow you to select a specific round, it means that places are no longer available in that shift and that you need to opt for another date.

It is possible to modify an existing registration (change exams/sit more or less exams/change the date). If the number of exams remains unchanged, students can modify the exam selection, otherwise they must cancel the existing registration and repeat the procedure to choose a new available date.

You can also unregister from one shift for which you have already registered. In that case, the exams you paid for will become available again in the YoU@B diary for later registrations.

Bocconi staff must complete the registration by sending an email to ec...@unibocconi.it, indicating the chosen exams and dates by the midnight of the Thursday preceding the scheduled date. You will receive a confirmation with the exact time and classroom of the exam on the Friday before the date of the exam.
