A Research Associate is sought to undertake research and evaluation activities with the Primary Health Care Research & Information Service (PHC RIS) team, and disseminate information arising from this research.

Lowitja Institute - Program Leader

The Lowitja Institute is looking for a suitably qualified researcher to undertake a Program Leader role their Healthy Communities and Settings program (Program 2), with a particular responsibility its scientific leadership.

This role will work with an established team. Responsibilities include providing scientific leadership and advice on all activities undertaken within the scope of the program; undertaking research activity as agreed and producing research reports, publications and presentations; contributing to the development of capacity building and research transfer processes; as part of a team, supervise personnel—including students—working on program activities and research projects; support the team to keep financial, technical and research records in the approved form; contribute to the management and reporting of any issues which may impact on the achievement of deliverables; provide any other reports or information as may be requested by the National Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Research Ltd (NIATSHR) within ten business days of the request unless otherwise agreed; participate in the CRC review that will be commissioned by the Commonwealth in the third year, 1 Jan 2012–30 June 2012.

The program goal is an improved understanding of the determinants of Indigenous health through the development and use of tools that more accurately measure enabling environments for improved Indigenous Australian health and wellbeing outcomes. Career Opportunity For Healthcare Postdoctoral Researcher

The Sax Institute is currently advertising for a postdoctoral research fellow to develop a creative and innovative program of implementation research within the Australian context.

The fellow will be supported to design and implementation of research focused on testing ways to embed evidence in healthcare policy and operations (internationally this is described as implementation or knowledge translation research). The position is funded by an Australian National Health and Medical Research Council research grant to support a Centre for Research Excellence.

Project Officer – health services research team – Sax Institute Australia

The Sax Institute is currently advertising for a project officer to join a research team studying how to embed evidence based care into the health system.

The role will involve providing project officer and administrative support to the team. The research is funded by a National Health and Medical Research Council research grant and is a collaboration with the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation.

The Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute (APHCRI) International Travelling Fellowships 2011

Applications are now open for The Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute (APHCRI) International Travelling Fellowships 2011 program.

 APHCRI is offering up to six Fellowships to researchers who are actively engaged in primary health care research to the value of $40,000 each. The funding provided will support the researcher’s time commitment working on the project, as well as provide funding for international travel and associated project costs. It is anticipated that the visits will take place between July 2011 to March 2012, and that the duration of the visit to the international institution(s) will be for a minimum of two weeks.

The Bupa Health Foundation (Formally MBF Foundation) – Grants program Expressions of Interest

The Bupa Health Foundation is seeking Expressions of Interest for the funding of new initiatives that provide clear benefit to the Australian community in one or more of the following five key strategic areas.

Once a year the Bupa Health Foundation seeks submissions via an Expressions of Interest process for the funding of new initiatives that provide clear benefit to the Australian community in one or more of the following key strategic areas:

Wellbeing;
Chronic disease;
Healthy ageing;
Empowering people about their health; and
Promoting affordable healthcare

The Foundation looks to fund initiatives from $100,000 to $500,000 for up to three (3) years.

Assessment Criteria
Each Expression of Interest will be assessed by the Foundation's Review Panel. The Panel will assess your Expression of Interest to ensure the threshold requirements have been addressed (see website for full details).
1. Does this meet the Foundation's objectives- to promote health research, health educations, and programs for leading healthier lives?

2. Does the proposal fall within a key focus area (wellness and obesity, healthy ageing, and keeping healthcare affordable)?
3. Has the Foundation already funded a similar project?
4. Is this proposal similar to existing research?

• New Investigator Grants of up to $25,000 for new researchers
• PhD Scholarships of up to $22,500
