How to get this working on Windows 10 x64? I have the same problem as mentioned above in that the CC2540 dongle shows up in device manager with no driver installed and is therefore not showing up in the Packet Sniffer. The dongle is untouched as received from TI, which I understand should mean that its flashed with the packet sniffer firmware by default.

My situation is similar to one described by the guys above, but with some difference: when I first installed SmartRF Studio + Packet Sniffer + SmartRF Flash Programmer, everything worked just fine: I was able to use cc2540 dongle with sniffer, read and write firmware from/to cc2540 chips through SmartRF05EB.

Yesterday I tried to read the firmware from cc2531 chip and found out that now neither Packet Sniffer nor Flash Programmer nor Studio don't see any of the chips! It seems that the main big thing that happened in between is the automatic Win 10 upgrade to ver 1703 (build 15063.413 as it says now; don't remember, which one was before). It's x64.

As everything worked before, I didn't look to Windows' device manager. Now I looked there and under "Other devices" I have CC2540USB Dongle with error 28, driver not installed, like mentioned in above messages. It's pretty surprising to see that, but at least it correlates to the fact that things are broken now.

Further, I don't see any "cebal2_x64.inf under C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\drivers\cebal\win_64bit_x64". Under C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\drivers\cebal there are only 2 dirs: \not_certified and \win_32bit_x86, no mentioning of 64bit version at all. So, as far as I see, I have latest versions of all tools and neither one has installed 64bit version. Where can I find it?

I'm currently trying to get a WiFi dongle to work with Ubuntu. It works fine with a previous installation of Windows 10, so the hardware shouldn't be an issue. When running the install.sh file, I kept getting an error message reading:

The driver I'm trying to get to run is from a download link provided in a .pdf on the disk that came with the dongle. There are drivers on there too, but after they didn't work I figured the download might have a newer version that would. The downloadlink is shortened though, so I can't paste it in here. I'm not sure about the legality of reuploading it elsewhere.

I Have an Asrock 390m-itx/ac mobo. Everything was fine, but then these automatic updates were pushed to my pc, and now the intel wireless bluetooth is screwed up. You can see the little usb icon in the systray toggling on/off continuously, and if you look in device manager, the icon is constantly disappearing and reappearing, and you can hear the windows new connection sound effect constantly going off. Intolerable.

I should note that when I see intel wireless in my device manager, i can uninstall, but there is no checkbox to delete files as well. This does exist on Intel Bluetooth. When I reboot, the Intel Wireless driver is already reinstalled.

I had recently updated Intel BT drivers and after that no BT device would connect to my desktop PC anymore. The BT on/off toggle had disappeared form that right-side panel accessible from the taskbar. When I opened Device Manager, the entire tree of devices would keep on refreshing every 2 seconds, until I manually disabled the Intel BT adapter (which was being continuously reset or something). I tried all manners of drive removal/upgrade/downgrade to no avail. Of course I tried rebooting the computer and even messed a bit with BIOS configs for nothing.

Yep. Like many others, I created an account to say thank you- roughly four years after this thread was created. The solution is still relevant, and it's far and away much easier and less time consuming than any of the other "solutions" I tried.

Edit: It might be important to add that different machines might require a longer or shorter interruption in the power supply for this to work. I've seen one person in this thread who unplugged their machine for 15 minutes, but I only unplugged mine for about 30 seconds.

(whatever is needed to avoid the hassle of checking which chipset is supported out of the box, buying, discovering there was a new revision of the same dongle, revision uses a different chipset, not compatible, and so on)

The LOTEKOO USB Wireless Network Adapter turn your existing Laptop Desktop PC wireless, allows you to connect Desktop/Laptop/PC to a wireless network and access high-speed Internet connection.Besides, this dongle also...

Can you confirm what maximum transfer speed do you get with this dongle (USUS USB-AC51)? I was using an Edimax EX-7612UAn with Volumio 2. This once provided 150Mbs, then fell to 72Mbs with Volumio 3 update.
I am hoping to find a dongle that supports 150Mbs again.

Hello, I bought this dongle and I am using the latest version of volumio 3. Performance is more like 72Mb/s close to the router. Are you using the latest version of volumio. What type of PI are you using?

Thank you to everyone for contributing and helping me to solve my issue with some clues that you provided. The first trick was to realise that I needed to ensure my router had separate SSID identifications for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. I then found I could see both separately on Volumio. I logged on to GHz and tweaked router settings. The performance is now over 200Mb/s, even peaking at over 400Mb/s. Admittedly I am very close to the router, but at least I have gained access to the higher speeds possible with the ASUS dongle. Thank you all.

in any case shortly after that her laptop would not connect to any network and right now i am having to use an ethernet cable on her laptop to get online. it claims no wireless network is available and it will not even show that she has a wireless adapter

I am not sure what else i could do..Does HP have a service that could look through my laptop and diagnose os see if the problem is fixable? Also are there other recommended wireless adapters that work with this hp laptop besides realtek.

If the test passes, I would suggest you go ahead and perform a system recovery using the partition available on your PC. Doing this will wipe off everything and set the computer back to the original factory conditions. So, please remember to back up your data before initiating system recovery. If for some reason the recovery fails. The only other way to install Windows would be to order the recovery media for your laptop and using the recovery media you can install Windows. You can check if the recovery media is available online on www.hp.com/drivers by entering the exact model no. of your laptop. To find the exact model no. click here:

as a last resort i did perform the reset to factory settings option on the laptop and it appears the problem still exists. I have done all the hardware tests with the hp diagnostic tool and everything passed.

As I understand you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue. I see from the post that you have a question - Is the wireless adapter replaceable? or is there another brand of wireless adapter besides realtek that works with hp?

Could you provide me with the exact model of the PC? Use this link to find it: -en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

In the meanwhile, a good workaround is to procure a wifi USB dongle and plug it to one of the USB ports. Then connect to the router with it. It is extremely cost effective and economical. You could get it for a song from a local Best Buy or Staples location or order one online at Amazon or Ebay.

First of all refer this post for explaining your issue briefly, with some additional information. We are unable to provide help if we even don't know the type of wireless usb you are using (please provide the amazon link for the stick)

If you get any errors, please stop and relay what error you got. The above is involved... most installations on Linux are nowhere near so involved. But RealTek does things with their drivers in a funny way. I mean, why do they have a Million different drivers out there? For what is essentially the same product? They make a change to existing drivers for one reason or another, tag a new version I.D. on it, then set the hardware to not work correctly unless it uses that tag. Then it is up to everyone else to try to keep up with all those different tags. Even Nvidia does not do this.
Reboot your system if the above commands run through without trouble and test your wifi...

GNU/Linux Ubuntu Installing Realtek rtl8822BU Driver Guide You Are Welcome! The Tutorial shows you Step-by-Step How to Install Realtek rtl8822BU Wireless Driver in Ubuntu GNU/Linux Distribution. And this Realtek rtl8822BU Driver for Ubuntu PPA is...

Do a search on Windows OS users trying to find, fix or upgrade drivers some time and you will easily see what a nightmare it truly is.
You may personally have only ever experienced Plug N Play on Windows.
I have only ever experienced working Plug N Play on Zorin OS... In fact, I solve far far more problems that other people find and run into than I ever encounter on my own.

WhizNets is not very forthcoming about price... best I can tell from press releases those modules are $49.99 - way too expensive. You can get wifi dongles for $5-6 in 1's, less than $3 in 1K qty. If WhizNet meets those prices, I'd call it low cost, as the OP was interested in.

A better solution is to switch to the beaglebone black. Their community is larger and more responsive. The default kernel and build system is not ancient. Questions on their forum actually get answered.
