In the name of what we CAN do as opposed to what we cannot manage to affect, here's what's up with me.

I have been the volunteer moderator of the friends of Dufferin Grove listerv for a few years.

The park in my neighbourhood is one of the largest in the city and a total hub of activity for a phenomenal number of wonderful activities.
It is a kind  community-centre-without-walls where unexpected magic always happens.

The majority of what happens there is as a result of the incredible work of Jutta Mason.
Have a look at the range of what happens here.

Plays and parades are organized by David Anderson and his wonderful group.

Any morning in the summer you see tai chi practitioners, and basketball dudes and all sorts of wonderful activities. The range of what goes on there is staggering. People jog through, there is an extensive sand pit where children allow imaginations to run. It is a fabulous example of cooperation, for the most part.

It is the home of Toronto's oldest Organic food market that ends up having the atmosphere of a small town centre.
Everyone is friendly and love to chat to catch up. It is fabulous. It is one of the few markets that is open all year round. It is quite a challenge but it all works.

On today's Global News at 6 they shot a little interview with me about the delay in opening the park rink later this year.
Every year the city battles with the dufferin park volunteers about stupid petty matters.
Instead of being thrilled that park users want to repair and paint the picnic tables and benches, the bureaucrats recite regulations and bylaws.
Yawn.

Here is the article from today's Toronto Star.

Hope you enjoy it.
