Backedby our unique partnership with the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), we provide a global platform to advance the application of science and technology.

Industrial Chemistry & Materials (ICM) publishes significant innovative research and major technological breakthroughs in all aspects of industrial chemistry and materials, focusing on the important innovation of the low-carbon chemical industry, energy and functional materials. By bringing researchers, engineers, and policymakers into one place, research is inspired, challenges are solved and the applications of science and technology are accelerated.

The global editorial and advisory board members are valued experts in the community. With their support, rigorous editorial practices and dissemination ensure your research is accessible and discoverable on a global scale.

Submissions are initially assessed and taken through peer-review by our high-profile, internationally-recognised Associate Editors. The journal operates a single-anonymised peer review model, and a minimum of two reviewer reports are required.

Herein, we review the recent progress of rational strategies to enable the use of microsized alloy anodes (Si, P, Sb, Sn, etc.) including electrolyte modulation, binder design and architecture engineering. We also provide perspectives on future directions and remaining challenges of microsized anodes towards practical applications.

In this work, the main factors affecting the reaction performance of Pd-based catalysts for direct synthesis of H2O2 and the active sites of catalysts have been reviewed and discussed in detail. The development and design of catalysts with high efficiency were introduced from three aspects: the catalyst support, active component and atomic impurity.

The influence of the Pt nanoparticle size on the ammonia electrooxidation reaction was investigated. PM-IRRAS was combined with electrochemical measurements to explore ammonia electrooxidation on carbon-supported Pt/C NPs in alkaline environments. The study demonstrated a clear relationship between the nanocatalyst size and catalytic activity.

This study presents a new equivalent circuit model to analyze impedance spectra at low hydrogen partial pressures. The proposed model accurately describes the impedance response and explains the performance decrease at low hydrogen concentrations.

We offer Industrial Chemistry & Materials authors a choice of two Creative Commons licences: CC BY or CC BY NC. Publication under these licences means that authors retain the copyright of their article, but users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. Read our open access statement for further information.

Communications should report preliminary research findings that are highly original, of immediate interest and likely to have a high impact in the selected fields. Authors should supply a justification of why the work merits urgent publication as a Communication.

Full papers should report original, innovative and significant research results in the particular field that has not been published previously. Authors should include a brief discussion in the Introduction that sets the context for the novel work and gives their motivation for carrying out the study.

Reviews, Perspectives and Minireviews should be high-quality, authoritative, state-of-the-art accounts of the selected research field. They should be timely, insightful and of general interest to the journal's broad readership rather than duplicate existing articles.

All review content should consist of original text and interpretation, avoiding any direct reproduction. If a significant amount of other people's material is to be used, either textual or image-based, permission must be sought by the author in accordance with copyright law and must be made clear in the manuscript.

Perspectives are short readable articles on the latest breakthroughs and achievements of the selected field. They may take the form of personal accounts of research or a critical analysis of the activity in a specialist area.

For publication, a Comment should present an alternative analysis of and/or a new insight into the previously published material. Any Reply should further the discussion presented in the original article and the Comment. Comments and Replies that contain any form of personal attack are not suitable for publication.

For the submission to Industrial Chemistry & Materials, please use this Article template or Review template. For the Review or Minireview article, please fill out the proposal form and submit it together with your cover letter. Please use the referencing template: Endnote style of Industrial Chemistry & Materials.

All articles published in Industrial Chemistry & Materials are subject to external peer review by experts in the field and all manuscripts submitted are handled by a team of internationally recognised Associate Editors, who are all practicing scientists in the field.

Industrial Chemistry & Materials is committed to a rigorous peer review process and expert editorial oversight for all published content. Please refer to our processes and policies for full details including our appeals procedure.

Articles accepted for publication in Industrial Chemistry & Materials are published online with citeable DOIs as Advance Articles after they are edited and typeset. Articles are then assigned page numbers and published in an issue. Issues of Industrial Chemistry & Materials are published four times per year. Please find our most recent issue here.

For further guidance on author responsibilities and code of conduct, which apply to Industrial Chemistry & Materials and to all manuscripts submitted to Royal Society of Chemistry journals, please visit our author hub.

Industrial Chemistry & Materials publishes a number of themed collections every year, guest edited by members of the materials community on timely and important topics. Please check the latest one Frontiers of Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cells

Members of the community are welcome to submit proposals for themed collections that would be of interest to the Industrial Chemistry & Materials readership. Please use the form below to submit a proposal. All proposals will be considered by the Editorial Board and assessed based on the timeliness and relevance of the topic to the readership of the journal.

Copyright is retained by authors when an open access licence is accepted, as with our standard licence to publish agreement. Full and accurate attribution to the original author is required for any re-use of the work. Find out more about copyright, licences and re-use permission.

These are three databases to start off with when searching for news on a particular company/industry or for searching for business news in general. To stay current with the latest business and economic trends related to chemistry and similar fields, browse the latest issues of the trade magazine listed in the box below.

Trade magazines can be good sources for news about the chemical industry, and you may find the price information you need. But they can be tricky to search. Below are some of the primary trade/professional publications for chemistry and chemical engineering, with suggested databases where you can search or (in some cases) browse the issues.

Select A Publication, enter your chemical or the word profile, and then under Find Publication type ICIS Chemical Business, or Chemical Publications to include other publications. You can sort to find the most recent chemical profile. You cannot browse the magazine well.

The Chemical Engineering Plant Cost Index (CEPCI), published monthly. The CEPCI is a composite index assembled from four sub-indexes: Equipment; Construction Labor; Buildings; and Engineering & Supervision. How the CEPCI is calculated.

Can be searched or browsed independently, or searched with other publications via Materials Science & Engineering Database). The CEPCI and other indicators are on a page called Economic Indicators or Current Trends, usually found at the end of the issue.

The version of Chemical & Engineering News. available to institutions with ACS journals access. Annual features include: World Chemical Outlook, Employment and Salary Survey, Global Top 50.

Construction economics section, with various indicators, including total construction (private vs public, residential vs nonresidential, construction cost indices for 20 cites (not San Diego); and material prices for pvc pipe, plywood, aluminum sheeting, and cement. Many of the appear every 2-4 issues.

Can be searched or browsed independently, or searched with other publications via ABI/INFORM Trade & Industry or Materials Science & Engineering Database. The Construction Economics page should be near the end of the issue

Can be searched or browsed independently, or searched with other publications via Academic Search Complete, Applied Science and Technology Full Text, or Environment Complete.

The chemical industry is advancing safety and sustainability worldwide, through innovations, collaborations and technologies the enhance the health, safety and environmental impacts of our products and operations.
