Hi all,

I had a quick question about ERDDAP. Are there capabilities of hosting a dataset that is not completely public? As in, can I create a hidden dataset on a public ERDDAP where users are required to know the dataset ID (or another identifier) to view the dataset? We are exploring making a dataset available to a specific group, but it is not ready for the public to use.

I'm assuming the answer is no, as I have not seen anything in the documentation that would suggest otherwise. Let me know, please.

Thank you in advance,
Sam

Hi,
you can restrict access to a dataset using ERDDAP's built-in security system
https://coastwatch.pfeg.noaa.gov/erddap/download/setup.html#security

and choose the autenthication method

Then add in dataset xml the additional tag <accessibleTo>:  https://coastwatch.pfeg.noaa.gov/erddap/download/setupDatasetsXml.html#accessibleTo
to restrict access to a any dataset you want

Keep in mind that authentication works only on HTTPS connection

Kind regards

Marco
