LPS Stereo just enables stereo view in control point measurement etc. It is not a stereo mapping application just enables stereo view in certain LPS fucntions. The comparizon of products is then as I see:
LPS TE is a terrain editor tool for LPS. It contains streo view and stereo mapping but just for terrain features. No buildings etc.
OR
The real stereo mapping applications what exists in Erdas are
These are really the choises you have in case pure Terrain mapping offered in TE is not enough - or your needs are not fulfilled with LPS Stereo capability that really offers you a stereo view capabilities in control point measurement tool.
The choise depends on your needs and platforms. My opinion is that Erdas based Stereo Analyst for ArcGIS is clearly a highlight of stereo mapping tools we have but it depends on your normal platform and experience. I have been using ArcGIS for a long time and that is why it feels more familiar to me rather than going to Microstation.
YOu can see descriptions of each products in Erdas webiste products section.

And as a additional info I have a feeling that due new viewing platform shown in Erdas Labs I excpect some unification of these tools in future. We have at the moment so many different stereo mapping platforms that unifying of them is coming within next versions.I hope in future choice will be much easier than today.
