Edit Mode in Erdas Imagine
By Sunnie Snell in ERDAS ECW/JP2 SDK Desktop, Version 4.2 (Read-Only and Read/Write), ECW Plug-ins, and imagery viewers Forum
Hi All
I have just tried to create a AOI in Imagine and have been given this error message
This is the first time that i have received this message. Why am i getting this message and how do i go about fixing it. Can it be from a user changing the preferences within the application.
If there are any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks in advance

Yo Sunnie,
This error message typically happens when trying to modify a vector file (shapefile or coverage).
I frequently get this message when trying to convert a shapefile to AOI when I click on the wrong paste icon. One icon (far left) is paste back into the existing data file (an editing function). The paste contents icon (2nd column from the left) transfers the contents from the shapefile into an AOI and creates a new layer in the table of contents.

Hi Don
Thanks for the quick reply.
Some background;
I am using Erdas Imagine 2011 which is being delivered through a Citrix network.
I have done a few 100 AOI's and have had no problems. And yes i found out a long time ago about the cut and paste options, not very well documented!
I have been using this system for a few months now and this is the first time that the above error has been raised.
I have just had the server rebooted and now all seems fine.
Just keep fingers crossed and not happen again. Not the best way to run a network LOL.
Thanks Don for you quick and helpful reply.
