Hi,

I have question about contingency matrix.
I would like generate a contingency matrix with different types on samples (training and verification) and not with all samples on lines and all samples on columns.
What is the way to make differentiation between training and verification samples and use them for create on contingency matrix ?

Thanks’ in advance for your help

Stéphane

Stephane,

I'm a little puzzled by your question since if you feed the accuracy assessment tool of ERDAS with your training samples it will assess how these samples were classified (Columns=samples, Rows=classification). If you feed the same tool with verification samples it will assess how these have been classified (Columns=verification, Rows=classification). The latter one you use to assess the quality of the classification.

Now I know that the tool asks for point samples and usually you have selected polygons (for sampling, and even for verification). We often use the function Image Interpreter | GIS Analysis . . . | Summary. . .
In summary you can create easily a matrix overlaying a classification and a verification file (raster format). Conversion of a polygon layer into raster could be done via Annotation and Convert Annotation to Raster. . .

It would be nice to see the accuracy tool be extended with functionality to assess accuracy using polygon layers with the classification.

Ah,

Now I see. You are still in the process of assessing whether your samples are ok and you use the tool Contingency matrix. It is intended to test your samples only, but you can restrict which samples it should include in the assessment. I think the solution provided in my earlier reply could help you, but it requires a classification as well (on the basis of approved samples ;-).
