Seal explained that the words he provided for "Killer" were intended as an exhortation to freedom and overcoming; that "the lyrics are about transcending whatever holds you back".[5] The song's line "Racism in amongst future kids can only lead to no good, besides, all our sons and daughters already know how that feels" was re-used in Seal's 1991 song "Future Love Paradise". The introduction to the Seal version also contains the line "It's the loneliness that's the killer", which does not occur in the Adamski version.

In 1991, British singer-songwriter George Michael performed "Killer" live at the Wembley Arena in a version that was released on the 1993 EP Five Live. "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" was also recorded and released on the same album. The two songs were blended together in the live performance, then remixed several times. The P.M. Dawn extended and radio remix for the "Killer"/"Papa" combination was released in 1993. Michael shot a video for the release, in which he did not appear personally. The video was directed by Marcus Nispel.

"Gunfighter" is not synonymous with "murderer," but the stranger with the "Big Iron" on his hip is a killer nonetheless. Yes, Texas Red had it coming. Yes, Red has the blood of 20 men on his young hands. But, no, the Code of Hammurabi is not a viable reason for the Ranger with that titular iron to gun Red down. Still, its drifting constable with good aim who takes justice into his own hands makes it one of the Wild West's best murder yarns.

While Johnny Cash has a lot of lyrical blood on his hands (see "Folsom Prison Blues," "Cocaine Blues," "Delia's Gone," "Don't Take Your Guns to Town," "Ballad of Annie Palmer" and covers of most songs on this list), not all his songs that mention murder are ballads. "I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die" may be one of the most famous lines in country music, but it's a confession, not a story. "I Hung My Head," written by Sting and recorded by Cash in 2002, is the only song on the list with a case of accidental manslaughter. To sing tenderly of violent death is a performer's great achievement, but to actually hear a snapshot of guilt in Cash's voice makes this song the cream of the murder ballad crop.

Love it. Key is really epic these days. the relationship breakup lyrics in Killer sounds a metaphor around his own stardom, and how he hypes himself up as an idol for songs and stages but feels vulnerable inside and fatigued from going between two personas. motorcycle Key vs chandelier Key in the music video.

I think Killer has a the beat very similar to Blinding Lights of The Weekend.
Seriously, this song is like a brother of Blinding Lights.
If you carefully listen to the first few seconds beginning of the song and compare these two songs together.
I like Killer a lot though, especially the climax, really really charming.

Bounty effortlessly displayed his international edge as he teamed up with Lauryn Hill, Pras, and Wyclef of the Fugees to bring you hip-hop realness over a sly, steady rap beat. Although heavy in patois, the killer delivered on his warlord moniker, promising rivals that his Askel 45 does enough talking whether it is in a soundclash or real life.

In recent years, gory tales of serial killers have become big business. From big-budget Hollywood movie Zodiac and recent Netflix series Dahmer, to countless true crime podcasts, grisly stories about the grim side of human existence are actually kinda fascinating, so it's no surprise some of our favourite bands have taken inspiration from the world's most notorious murderers.

Asked if he thinks folks will understand "Cop Killer" now more than they did at the time of the track's original release, Ice-T said: "It was a song about somebody who, during a moment like this, got so mad that they went after the cops. We don't want that guy. But a lot of times you warn people by saying this can happen. I never killed no cop. I've written better songs that are more on point with what I believe today. I was a little more radical back then. 'No Lives Matter' addresses my feelings at this moment. You got to remember, 30-years-ago Ice is different than 62-year-old Ice."

Pressed about who the 62-year-old Ice is, he responded: "My correct guidance right now is know your allies and let's continue to go forward. Don't let up. Let's go after Breonna Taylor's killers. Let's get it done."

"I didn't want (songs) going on for six or seven minutes," he said. "I really felt like I didn't want 15 or 16 songs on the album. I wanted 11 killer (bleeping) songs, whether they be slow or fast or whatever."

"Obviously we're going to have a lot more new songs to play," King said. "We try to kick it around a lot, as much as we can without losing the heart and soul of the set. No matter what you do, there has to be the body there. We'll be (messing) around with the body this time, definitely throwing in songs people have never heard. It's all going to be exciting stuff."

Some of these early lyrics include, "sun setting on Melrose Place, sweet serial killer, sippin' lemonade, baby, you know I love the thrill of the rush", "keep my dark heart ins-", "stuck on you", and more.

Del Rey performed the song as part of the set list on every date of the 2015 Endless Summer Tour. The first performance was on May 7 in The Woodlands, Texas, performed alongside other unreleased songs "Us Against the World" and "You Can Be the Boss".[5][6][7] Del Rey also performed this song live on several dates as part of her set list for her 2016 Festival Tour as well as a portion of her 2017 performances and various shows of the LA to the Moon Tour in 2018.

In the coming weeks, it was learned that Hare was not only a window cleaner, but an accomplished guitarist. In fact, as Pat Hare, he had played guitar on some of the most formative blues songs of the 1950s, and had developed an innovative and influential style that presaged rock-and-roll and heavy metal music.

In the few photos of Clayton that survive, he wears bold white, round glasses that highlight the knowing twinkle in his eyes. He was a professional musician, performing pop songs and blues alike, peppered with then-current references and slang. Tongue-in-cheek songs about relationship woes would certainly find receptive audiences in nightclubs and near jukeboxes.

You ever listen to The Dickies? They're fuckin' weird, man. But weird in a fun way. There's no other way to refer to a band that came to prominence picking some bizarre cover songs ("Silent Night" and the theme to The Banana Splits comes to mind) and penning the theme to one of the best horror comedies of all time, Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

New Orleans sludge royalty Thou are no strangers to this column. Hell, I could make about a dozen of these just from their gigantic cache of Nirvana covers. But here, they take on the Sabbath song "Sweet Leaf," an ironic choice to say the least. The first track on Masters of Reality, "Sweet Leaf," might be one of the best stoner metal songs in existence, possibly tied with Sleep's "Dopesmoker."

Alt-rock favorites and Gojira buddies Highly Suspect have announced their highly anticipated fourth full-length, The Midnight Demon Club, and unveiled two new songs, hooky lead single "Natural Born Killer," which arrived with a surreal music video, and its heavier counterpart "Pink Lullabye." The Midnight Demon Club is due out September 9th via Roadrunner Records/FRKST (pre-order it here). Stream the songs above and below.

However, what we got was nothing short of forgettable. While I initially planned to rank the album in order of the songs I liked most to least, it proved to be difficult considering most of the songs felt unoriginal and half-done.
