1-1/2 Day Easy Trek to Parvatha malai, on 09th - 10th May 2015 .

 

Parvathamalai is located near to Thenmathimangalam village, which is 20 kms from Polur in Thiruvannamalai District, Tamilnadu. Polur is 35kms(approx) from Thiruvannamalai (Arunachala).The hill(Parvatamalai) is 3500 feet(Approx) high from the sea level. On the top of the hill, Lord Mallikarjunaswamy(Sivan) temple is located, which is believed to be 2000 years old.

This hill is full of herbal (mooligai) plants. There is another route from Kadaladi, to reach Parvathamalai, which is shorter and when compared to Thenmathimagalam route. Thenmathimagalam route is lenghty but easier to reach the top of  Parvathamalai. However, both routes joins at a common point, and it is a single route from there which leads to Lord Mallikarjunaswamy temple on top of the hill. There is a ashram for Mounaguruswamy near to the temple. Annadhanam will be provided in this ashram for devotees. During the Pournami full moon day, this hill attracts a lot of devotees.

> 4.30 P.M. on Saturday 9th May 2015, we are Leaving from Chennai riding towards Polur 
Return on 10th Night

What you can expect in this trek

10+ kms of walk, Climbing steep ridges, Jumping over boulders & lot more fun

 

Selection Criteria

This trek is open to all, with basic fitness and no need prior trek experience. Food will be taken by hotels & packed Foods

 

Registration close Time: 8th May Eve 7 P.M  

 

 

Cost of expenses: Expenses will be shared equally, Approximate expenses  Rs.800/-   

Must Carry Items:

Please travel as light as possible. The lighter you travel the easier your trek. All participants must carry following items:

1. Good walking shoes

2. 1 liter water bottle

3. Medium sized back-pack to carry water & miscellaneous items

4. Spoon & Bowl

5. Thin blanket and sleeping mat

6. LED torch for camp site & night trekking if any

7. One extra set of clothes

8. Fully charged camera

9. Lighter or match box

10. Non swimmer bring life jacket
