Joining our faculty this year is Ivano Tavernelli, Senior Research Staff Member in Quantum Computing at IBM Research – Zurich 💻
Since 2018, Ivano has served as IBM's Global Leader for Advanced Algorithms in Quantum Simulations, driving research and applications across physics, chemistry, biology, and materials science. His work centers on designing efficient and scalable quantum algorithms for both near-term and fault-tolerant quantum computing. 🧮
Before joining IBM, he held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge and served as Maître d'Enseignement et de Recherche at EPFL. He holds two Master's degrees — in Biochemistry and Theoretical Physics — and a PhD in Natural Sciences, all from ETH Zurich.
