When I run the epubcheck.jar built from the latest sources, I see:

Validating using EPUB version 3.0 rules.

I dumped the help and got:

Modes and versions supported:

--mode opf -v 2.0

--mode opf -v 3.0

--mode xhtml -v 2.0

--mode xhtml -v 3.0

--mode svg -v 2.0

--mode svg -v 3.0

--mode nav -v 3.0

--mode mo  -v 3.0 // For Media Overlays validation

--mode exp  // For expanded EPUB archives

It was my understanding that a lot of support for 3.x+ got added recently. How can I get those checks applied?  Is it a build issue or some arg I need to know?

Thanks
Ric

BTW, let me know if you would rather I filed issues for questions like this.

The latest sources check against EPUB 3.0.1 by default, and a variety of other satellite specs or profiles (e.g. EDUPUB, IDX, ESC, Multiple Renditions, etc). No need to add a build flag.

The reported versions are obviously outdated, I'll add it to the tracker.

Thanks!
Romain.

OK, turned out to be pilot error (or ignorance, take your pick).  I am using the OSX command-line utility.  That’s fine, but OSX’s file manager has these “extra directory bits”. The zip utility will include these in the zip directory entry unless explicitly told not to (via the  -X flag).   Including these caused epubcheck to get very confused and emit all kinds of weird errors.  Once I turned off those bits, the mimetype file was accepted and I get many fewer errors and ones that make sense to me.

I added a comment and closed the issue.

Thanks
Ric
