Hello

In the last two weeks, we have been encountering sporadic errors during the deposit process to our eprints repository. Data that has been entered into the record gets deleted near the end of the deposit process. We can see this in the item history, but we don’t see what causes it. It only happens now and again, and we can’t replicate the error ourselves.

We are wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and/or could give us some suggestions about what might cause it.

Many thanks,

Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

We experienced a similar issue. For us it was caused by the Pages field, which was only accepting number values. We then changed this field into a text field and this works just fine.

Hopefully this this is helpful.

With all best wishes,

Brigitte

Hi Stephanie, Brigitte,

Just to confirm what Brigitte has already said, it looks like this can occur when anyone tries to save something that looks like a string of text in a field which is designed to store numbers. So in the case of the "Pages" field, if someone tries to store something like "c. 400" rather than just 400, the repository fails to save the record and so any edits that were also made at the same time also get lost.

So it may not be the "Pages" field necessarily, but can occur when trying to store non-numbers in a numbers field!

I hope this helps!

Many thanks,

Will
