EPrints OpenAIRE application profile / UKRI

Hi,

Has any UK (or elsewhere) EPrints repository moved forward with a (fully) compliant OpenAIRE protocol/OAI-PMH feed based on the new UKRI policy? Or if other repository platforms have validated feeds?

Hello! I was just wondering about UKRI compliance regarding unique identifiers. Do we know yet if eprints is considered compliant? Do we need to OpenAire compliant to achieve that?

Hi Leah – I am unsure whether it is really possible to make specific assessments about UKRI PID expectations for EPrints at this point. This is because the UKRI policy documentation was vague about those expectations (e.g. UKRI do not yet assign PIDs for the grants they assign…) and because further technical information from UKRI is now expected later in the summer.

 

Having said that, I imagine the general expectation will be to use PIDs wherever reasonably possible, which is what we are working towards at Strathclyde. This can mostly be satisfied through a combination of the DataCite, IDs-IDs-IDs, Rioxx, ORCID plugins. OpenAIRE compliance on its own will not be sufficient to meet the requirements, as vague as they are at the moment.

Thanks George!

I've worked with Dspace repositories before where they had the 'Handle' number which I've seen mentioned as a compliant identifier.

I know Eprints provides a unique URL but wasn't sure if there was already a relevant identifier provided by eprints systems which would count as compliant. Other than minting DOI's which I assume will have ongoing costs.

Guess its a case of wait and see!
