Forgot to mention this here at the time, but the creators_roles plugin for EPrints that provides support for CRediT roles is being actively developed here: https://github.com/eprintsug/creators_roles. An example of the drop down it renders is shown below.

It would be great to hear get ideas, comments, contributions and patches from the community!
