Hi all,

Further to my earlier email, below is the list of things that people have requested to learn more about or share their experiences of at our user group next week. We can make sure as many of these as possible are discussed in the time we have. As the list is reasonably long I may build some opportunities for more structured discussion on these subjects into the first 13:00 – 14:00 slot of the agenda so that we can cover everything that people want to cover, so please do try to arrive for 13:00 if you can.

·       The way Eprints is configured and used at other institutions

·       To understand any challenges that the group have and how we can collaborate to being about change

·       What reports we can get on the range of dates available in Eprints, some hidden, some on view and how does this work with RIOXX

·       EPrints 4 Data Flavour

·       We are looking at, research data archiving, accessibility and core code sustainability.

·       Understand any plugins others use that would be useful to re-use. Community development for commonly used plug ins such as the DataCite plug in.

·       the DataCite plugin and if that could be something centrally provided and updated as that causes me some issues on our hosted version of ePrints at the moment

·       Future developments. Have others installed the REF2021 plug in and if so how useful is it?

·       Digital Preservation (Rosetta or Archivematica)

·       Would like to learn about EPrints repositories with ORCID plugins - uses, problems, successes

·       eprints and Plan S

·       eprints future plans

·       capturing and surfacing esteem/professional activities using MePrints

·       Open Access, Impact, CReDIT

Thanks,

Rachel.

Hi Rachel,

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the UG, sorry! I was therefore just wondering if there are intentions to share any outputs from tomorrow, and if there might be a hashtag to keep an eye on...?

Thanks!

Hi all,

I've received a request for the presenter slides to be circulated, so I've attached a link to my slides, available from Google Docs, to make them more widely available:

Many thanks,

Will

Hi all,

A belated thank you for everybody who came along, engaged, tweeted, or followed from afar for the eprints UK user group meeting last Thursday.

https://twitter.com/hashtag/eprintsusergroup?src=hash

An additional thank you to our 3 presenters who gave interesting and informative talks:

-          William Nixon (University of Glasgow) – slides available at https://edshare.gla.ac.uk/386/

-          Will Fyson (eprints services) – slides available at https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Jil-dsNFJ4rPI2f3StlVRbQ7HwXdfztgDi1-fPOG_LM/edit#slide=id.g520b7cc196_0_0

-          John Salter (University of Leeds) – a demo of eprints features/plugins including statistics, dimensions, IRUS amongst other things

The group spent some time reviewing the ‘wishlist’ at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s5zByvmJT6iVbEn6ZWhixH0AutIb4qJuID4LYj3Y2fI/edit#gid=0 and we updated this in the meeting.

Another big thank you to the people who put themselves forward to lead the facilitation of small groups of interested parties to collaborate on the items that the group felt were our highest priorities, the list is below. I’m really happy to help with any of this facilitation, just let me know. If you want to contribute to one of the items, either with setting the requirements or actioning the work needed, please let the people below know and we’ll set up some online meetings to take this forward.

Wishlist item

Who will lead the facilitation of the group to collaborate on this item?

Author disambiguation (then merge users if needed)

Adam Vials Moore from Jisc (adam.vi...@jisc.ac.uk)

3.4 comprehensive and open to replace 3.3?

William Nixon from Glasgow (willia...@glasow.ac.uk)

Support and feedback process, roadmap, contribution to code

Camilla Griffiths from LSE (c.b.gr...@lse.ac.uk)

Better deduplication - suggestion that some systems do better than EPrints

Alice Gibson from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (Alice....@lshtm.ac.uk)

Updated indexing / search

Kirsty Wallis from Greenwich (k.r.w...@gre.ac.uk)

Documentation for what can a repository admin safely tweak without having developer skills, what can you safely do?

Lindsay Wood from Warwick (l.w...@warwick.ac.uk)

Portfolio item type

Helen Cooper from Kent (H.Co...@kent.ac.uk)

Hopefully we’ll have some upcoming online gatherings on the above to keep momentum – watch this space for details.

And a get together for a face to face meeting in the summer, possibly in Glasgow, more details to follow …

After that, if anyone thinks they could host in Feb/March 2020 let us know, I’d be happy to help plan the agenda etc.

Thanks again and I hope to hear more from you all soon J

Thanks,

Rachel.
