VET E-portfolio Roadmap Key Outputs Survey - your input is being sought:

The VET E-portfolio Roadmap (Roadmap) is a national strategy designed to support the diverse requirements for e-portfolios in VET and aims to assist in the development of a standards-based approach to e-portfolios.  The Roadmap defines nine key goals.  The knowledge gained from addressing and achieving these nine goals will be distilled into three key outputs:
  • National guidelines for VET managers
  • Functional specifications for e-portfolio system implementers and developers
  • Strategies for embedding e-portfolios into VET
Work currently being undertaken by the National VET Data Strategy Action Group includes investigating a unique student identifier (USI) for VET students.  This USI coupled with a National Qualifications Register could provide learners with a lifelong digital VET record as part of their e-portfolio.   The Roadmap aims to gain national agreement and collaboration to enable the national infrastructure through which this can happen.

Your input is being sought
into the development of criteria which will guide the structure and content of each of the Roadmap's three key outputs to inform the future operational requirements of this work, together with appropriate communication strategies. The survey will take between 10-25 mins, depending on the number of questions you are able to answer.  The survey closes on 20 July.

A small group of VET E-portfolios Community of Practice (EpCop) members are currently designing and developing an E-portfolio Massive Open Online Course (EpCop MOOC) which will give participants easily accessible learning opportunities about e-portfolios.  The EpCop MOOC will enable help participants develop their own e-portfolio while establishing a professional e-portfolio network.  The EpCop MOOC if FREE and will start in August.  The MOOC will then be freely available for anyone to use and contextualise for the professional development of others.

Other e-portfolio stories, events and useful resources

E-portfolios and mobile devices - emerging uses
As e-portfolios become more popular in VET there are some emerging uses around e-Assessment, RPL (recognition of prior learning), workplace learning & assessment, managing continuous professional development (CPD) and developing digital profiles or e-CVs.  This usage is being supported by using engaging ways to collect evidence and information through ‘mobile devices’.

Privacy and e-portfolio resources
In collaboration with the Australian ePortfolio Project,
E-portfolios and Privacy concept brochures have been developed to provide practical guidance and tools on managing learner privacy when using an e-portfolio and answer the detailed privacy questions for VET learners, teachers and trainers and training organisations.  As part of this collaborative effort, higher education versions of these brochures have been developed around managing privacy for the academic staff, institutional IT managers and university learners as part of the Australian ePortfolio Project Toolkit.
International research, events and news
AAEEBL (Association of Authentic, Experiential and Evidence Based Learning) is conducting a survey to gain a better understanding of the motivations, benefits, strengths and challenges of e-portfolio implementations across diverse institutions.

An affiliation of international e-portfolio organisations have developed a Unified ePortfolio Calendar to enable the international e-portfolio community to find and share e-portfolio related events and news.
