Hi, Coach,
I've been watching this conversation and am a little surprised that
many ideas have not emerged so far. Of course, any use of an
ePortfolio is goverened by both the software and also the age, stage
and circumstances of the owner. But here are a few more ideas:
5. I want to be able to present my own self-image with impact. When
people visit my ePortfolio it should be a memorable and enjoyable
experience.
6. I want to carefully control who sees what. Privacy is important to
me and what I choose to disclose about myself should be relevant to
the selected audience.
7. Coupled with the above, I want to be able to concurently present
different 'personas' to different audiences.
8. Sometimes I want to be able to share my ideas on my projects with
a controlled audience who I can trust to discuss ideas before
submitting final papers to my tutors.
9. An ePortfolio can provide me with all the tools for the different
types of feedback that I need.
10. I want an ePortfolio in which I can clearly organise all my
different interests and work into easy-to-find pages.
11. I want my familial mentor(s) to be able to see relevant parts of
my work and progress and give me support and encouragement that others
will not see.
12. I want one central 'workplace' where I can keep 'scrapbook items'
and 'to do' lists.
13. The ePortfolio can provide links to my favourite tools and widgets
instead of being stuck with what the institution's VLE provides.
14. I want my ePortfolio to be a 'Personal Learning Environment'
where I can see not only my current work-in-progress, but also
appropriate rubrics and semantic tools which can suggest directions
for further study.
15. I would hope that appropriate parts of my ePortfolio might be of
use to others further down the 'learning ladder'.
Hope this helps,
Ray T.
