I am reviewing some activities in our SFMC instance that some previous coworkers built. In one automation activity, I am seeing an activity I can't find. I can't find the "Journey Entry" activity in Automation Studio Activities section. See screenshot.
I had the same question. I never saw the option to drag "Journey Entry" as an Automation Activity to drag over to step 2. I had luck with setting up the Automation Filter (step 1), then set up my Journey in Journey Builder to use that Automation as the Schedule. Once I activated the Journey and activated the automation, the Journey entry audience popped into the Automation automatically as Step 2. It never showed up as an option to drag over from the Activities section of the Automation. I hope this helps...
The educational version of Automation Studio is a limited features version used by engineering and technical schools to train students who are future engineers or technicians. The software is designed for schools that teach technical subjects such as industrial technologies, mechatronics, electromechanical technologies, electrical & electronics, automation, and maintenance. Modeling and simulation are used to illustrate theoretical aspects.
Once you've created your automation and have your audience data extension imports configured, your Workflow tab might look something like the image below. In the screen shot, you can only see four files being imported, but there are five more present below the screen line, so you can add as many as you need for your send.
If you're feeling a bit nervous about your data extensions running successfully and want build time into the send to double check that there are no errors, you can do so by dragging the Wait option from the Activities menu into the canvas space designated for Step Two of your automaton. This means that after the data extensions have imported, the automation will wait for the amount of time you specify before moving onto the actual send.
Automation Studio is designed to connect with Salesforce Send Emails ONLY. If you're not familiar with how to create a Salesforce Send Email, review Marketing Cloud Salesforce Send Email. Once you've selected your audience and scheduled any desired wait time, your next step is to link your automation to an already-existing Salesforce Send Email.
To schedule your automation and email send, click on Configure or Edit (if you've already used this automation before) under the Schedule Starting Source. For our example, we'll be selecting Edit.
REMINDER Any changes you make in your automation after activating it and saving it will result in the automation being paused. Be sure to reactivate your automation if you make any changes.

You mention that you get the error message when you try to launch NAC (management server) or Automation studio? This error message notifies of connection issue to the NES (execution server) which looks like its on the same server as your NAC. Are you able to open ROC and login (web UI)?

Verification activities allow you to avoid unintentional automation outcomes. You can select a target data extension in your automation, and evaluate target data extensions based on the conditions you have set.
