Meeting Notes - 11.6.2011

Advent/Christmas display in the park: A committee is set to finalize
and implement the plans. The City of Maumelle needs 5-6 more group
commitments before they will let the community event proceed. The
committee will move forward this week if the City makes a final
decision. The committee needs will be communicated through email and
a set up schedule announced at a later date via email. If the City
cancels the event we can use our efforts towards additional signage
lighting and building lighting now that the time change has occurred.

Our first annual “Be Ye Thankful” cookout on November 20th: Those
with grills will gather mid-afternoon, and the cooking will start
about 4:30. We will serve at 5:00 pm prior to services. We will send
a separate email for food dishes or items we need members to bring.
Mazie is offering potato salad. Rosanna baked beans.

The bishop’s visit on December 4th: There will be a simple meal
afterwards of soup, chili, and corn bread and crackers. Mazie will
make corn bread and Rosanna will make a taco bean soup

Our St. Nicholas’ celebration (the first one officially as St.
Nicholas' Episcopal Church) will be held on Wednesday, December 7th.
We will have a pre-celebation at 6:00 p.m. which will include St.
Nicholas cookies for decorating, flaming punch and lessons about St.
Nicholas and of course an expected visit from St. Nicholas himself.
Our service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Rosanna will contact the Diocese
about coming to shoot a video to be posted on the Communique.

Ray Brown's ordination will on December 12th at 7PM at St. Michael's
with a reception following.

The congregation Christmas Party will be held at the home of Debbie
and Bobby Rawn on December 17th. Details will follow. Maybe we can
get Kay to return & do more of her Carnac the Magnificent like
demonstrations!

We have another year's commitment of support towards our budget from
the diocese, but we continue to reflect on our commitment and vision
ahead of us as St. Nicholas. Collecting of pledge cards for support
of our 2012 budget will take place over the next two Sundays.

A very warm quilt, hand sewn by Mazie Henry, will be raffled off in
support of the Dick Johnston Summer Camp (summer camp for children
whose parents are incarcerated), and we will be developing further
ideas for support of that ministry, i.e. a change jar to collect funds
in all year. See Molly Stitsworth on Sundays for a ticket if you
desire to purchase a chance on a great quilt and to support a great
cause!

In late January (likely the last week) we will have a church half-day
retreat to complete a planning calendar for 2012.

Respectfully Submitted,

Rosanna Henry-Loket
