Present: Ray & Royce Brown, Nancy & Roy Olofson, Sylvia & Chuck
Starratt, Bobby & Debbie Rawn, Mazie Henry, David & Julie Oliver, Ann
Filatreau, Rosanna Henry Loket
Ice Cream Social plans: We will set up at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, August
21. The activities will begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue until 6:00
when services begin. We will plan for approximately 50 people. St.
Michael’s band will be there to give us some music.
Debbie will go to Sam’s to purchase items necessary for the social.
Shopping list: chocolate, strawberry & vanilla ice cream, bananas,
maraschino cherries, whipped cream spray, strawberry, chocolate &
caramel sauce, sprinkles & pecans, containers for banana splits,
unscented wipes, paper towels
(spoons & serving spoons are abundant at the church, and Debbie will
take them home to wash)
Several people will bring ice cream scoops
Bible Study & Book Study: We are open to meeting at the church or in
homes. We agreed to do a Book Study in the fall and a Bible Study in
the spring during Lent.
Ray suggested that we consider Love Wins by Rob Bell for the fall book
study running from mid-September through mid-November. Pat Murray
with St. Margaret’s has prepared a study guide to accompany the book.
Ray also suggested for consideration: 1) Alpha Training 2) a book of
the Bible 3) pre-packaged bible study.
For our Lenten Bible Study, those present agreed that a Lenten study
of the prayer book would be a good choice.
Childrens’ Ministry: Molly Stitsworth is working on our childrens’
ministry and the “Godly Play Program”. Ray is working for a pay raise
for Molly. All agreed this is a good decision.
Blessing of the Animals: Date is not set. Discussion will take place
later when we are closer to the date.
Budget: Rosanna discussed the budget. Through July we budgeted to
receive revenues of $31,500 but have been blessed and have received
$35,014.85. And through July, our expense budget was $42,950.81 and we
have had actual expenses of $37,092.04; so, we are $9,373.62 to the
plus for year to date when you net out both revenue and expenses and
then add them together. We do still have some outstanding receipts
from the summer and will be making further expenditures for a
childrens education program, advertising, St. Francis blessing of
animals, facility improvements and of course the upcoming feast of St.
Nichols.
Computer for Ray: Ray relayed that the diocese will give us a
computer for his use.
The update on this since our meeting is that the laptop is quite old.
Randall has found one and will be happy to get it set up for us. The
laptop runs $441 and it has Windows 7 Professional not home, which is
very important for future upgradability. Also has a 15.6 inch monitor
which is a good size for reading bulletins. A new copy of Office 2010
would be $110.
Vestments for Ray: Retired priest, Harold ____________ from St.
Michael’s has donated many of his vestments for Ray’s use.”
Ray’s Ordination: Information to follow. It could be any time after
November 30, 2011.
Respectfully Submitted,
Debbie Rawn
