In the day, the Lord sends his faithful love, and even at night the song it inspires in me is a prayer to the God of my life.
Psalms 42

So much is going on right now  I was sitting at Sam's track meet yesterday, surrounded by his teammates, many of whom seem to be girls who delight in screaming at high pitched tones.  Annoying, yes. But, moving away about 30 feet, the noise becomes full of delight and encouragement at their friends' efforts on the field.  It's all in the perspective.

This made me think about how many stressors are going on right now in my life:

-The backyard project is almost done and although there have been moments when patience seemed to be the needful emotion, it has come together very nicely and will soon be able to be celebrated.

-Graham's conference began and he came home very late last evening, happy to be coming home, and in a good mood, because, as he told me he had told everyone I had instructed him that "it's all small stuff and don't sweat the small stuff." I honestly don't remember saying that, but whatever works, eh? Better than the actual words I may or may not have said, was the message that I had given him some sense of strength and empowerment to handle the pressure of striving for perfection.

-My eldest son, out of work since he dared to take off from work to come here to celebrate his 25th birthday, is chosing to drive down from Pittsburgh to see his younger brother's last track meet this Thursday.  We are encouraging him to come join us here...we think being closer to family will be helpful to him...but we know we have to be very subtle and let this be his idea.

-My daughter called in tears yesterday asking to "come home". Losing out on a job offer was the last straw in a series of mishaps, and she is reaching for the sense of peace and empowerment she has when she is near us.

-My cataract surgery will have to be postponed as the eye doctor tries to get my corneas in a bit better health.  While disappointing, my vision is still okay, so I will concentrate on that as well as the cardiac testing I am going through. Genetics are showing up but it is early days and we are catching the problem when it is small.

-Sam goes to get his measurements in the morning for his braces to be installed in a week.  I think the blessing here is we can afford to pay it in full and get the small discount they offer to do so, thanks to the inheritance I received.

So here I am, awake at 4am, thinking of the craziness of normal life...and realizing how very fortunate I am to be here with all I have, and above all, all the love that surrounds my world. God sends messages in many ways, but His hand is evident.
