to Epilepsy Heartland
My name is Bobbie ann and I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was
12. They thought I would grow out of it but I was not so lucky. I
have had it since I was born. It was just not caught soon enough.
some times I wish I were normal and could just wake up and not depend
on the medication. But, I know that if I don't take it my night is
shot. I miss not worring about things so much.

As a child it did make me grow up fast. My mom was really good
about it. Children think they are indestructible and they cannot be
touched. That innocience was lost at 12. In ways my mom was always
trying to to shelter me and keep me safe so I wouldn't worry. I love
her for that but it didn't help me as an adult. Sheltering children
from themselves can be dangerous. You should just speak the truth and
get it over with.
