Hey team,

Sarah, Mickey, and I should have our lit reviews (3 each) done today. I have to admit I only have one done =( that's my very sad face. I'm sorry I haven't had more time to get the other two done. I formatted mine after these to help me stay focus:

  • What is known about the subject?

  • Are there any gaps in the knowledge of the subject?

  • Have areas of further study been identified by other researchers that you may want to consider?

  • Who are the significant research personalities in this area?

  • Is there consensus about the topic?

  • What aspects have generated significant debate on the topic?

  • What methods or problems were identified by others studying in the field and how might they impact your research?

  • What is the most productive methodology for your research based on the literature you have reviewed?

  • What is the current status of research in this area?

  • What sources of information or data were identified that might be useful to you?

I will have mine done by Friday as well. Justin and Erin, good luck with your test(s) this week!

Don't worry about it. I am actually in the process of doing it right
now. It seems like your format is very different from the way I am
currently doing it, taking key points, data, risk factors for ED, etc
in note form for each article that I have looked at. Seems like your
format if further along in that after those points are found you are
categorizing them under those questions. Anyways, I fairly behind as
well but will post what I have tonight and update on Friday.

I know everyone is hard at work on doing lit reviews/studying for exams but can everyone at least send out the title/year of the article they are working on so we don't duplicate?

The three articles I'm working on are as follows:

1. An Overview of the Diagnosis and Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction (2006)
2. Relative contributions of modifiable risk factors to erectile dysfunction: Results from the Boston Area Community Health (BACH) Survey (2010)
3. Lifestyle Management of Erectile Dysfunction: The Role of Cardiovascular and Concomitant Risk Factors (2005)

Thanks all!!!!!!!

Best,
Sarah

P.S. I might not be able to make it to class tonight because of a mandatory meeting for something else; let me know if I miss anything critical.....

Okay here are mine so far.

1. Development and evaluation of a yoga exercise programme for older
adults (2006)
2. Sexual function in hypertensive patients receiving treatment (2006)
3. Does practicing hatha yoga satisfy recommendations for intensity of
physical activity which improves and maintains health and
cardiovascular fitness? (2007)
4. Role of exercise treadmill testing in the management of erectile
dysfunction: a joint cardiovascular/erectile dysfunction clinic (2003)

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

HI EVERYONE!!!

I am so glad it is the weekend that I got to work on the epi lit review............

I attached my review.  Thank you for all your work so far.

Just a reminder, we do need to submit a literature review summary by Wednesday, so we all need to finalize our own reviews so that we can summarize together.

We also need to get a move on our Methodology section, which we should do in the coming week....

Any thought?

Thanks,

JUSTIN

Hey All,

Thanks Mickey and Justin for getting your lit reviews in!!  Here is my lit review along with the 4 articles I reviewed.  Hopefully, it is helpful for everyone.

Maybe we should have a quick conference call Sunday or Monday to check in and discuss the next steps that Justin mentioned?  (We could use: http://www.freeconferencecall.com/ -- I've used them before...)

Best,

Sarah

Sure a conference call sounds great.  We could also meet Wednesday on campus as Erin and I have a 3 hr break before epi class (assuming Erin is ok with that).

What are your votes?

Mickey and I have a class from 4-6pm and then we head straight to Epi on Wednesday. We only have this class for two more weeks and after that we can meet before Epi. Until then, this would not work for us. The best time to meet is possibly after class, because we're all already on campus, at one location. Meeting during break also works for me. Conference call also works. I hope you all are having a really nice relaxing weekend. Hang in there!!
