Per EPIC help desk:
Shands is the ONLY lab which is able to handle lab orders set for
"future" draw.
Quest and LabCorp systems are unable to handle "future" lab orders, so
these MUST ordered as "normal." If you have specific instructions
regarding time frame for the patient to complete labs, please note in
comment section of the lab order. (Example: For patient draw around
08/06/2011 or one to two weeks before next appointment. Order expires
04/06/2012.)
When ordering pre-clinic labs or follow-up labs, please keep this in
mind and you will save Christina a lot of extra work!
We have run into a number of patients that have been told they do not
need to bring an order to the lab, that have later been told there are
NO orders for them. (LabCorp and Quest cannot even view "future"
orders.)
