Subject: Access to Chemotherapy Medications in Epic
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE TO YOUR PROVIDERS AND STAFF:
Monday, April 4, 2011
TO: ALL PROVIDERS
REFERENCE: ACCESS TO CHEMOTHERAPY MEDICATIONS
With the implementation of Epic in the hematology/oncology clinic, effective Monday, April 4, providers and clinical staff will now have access to view the complete chemotherapy orders, which includes the following:
· Regimen
· Cycle
· Dosage
· Support medications
· Pre-medications
This information will be scanned into EPIC and available via the “media tab”. We think this will enhance the ability of providers and other clinical staff to have a complete picture of the patient’s chemotherapy treatment plan. Access to this information will also enable providers and other care givers to have access to the therapeutic plan prior to seeing patients who are referred as a new-patient referral.
Non-chemotherapy prescriptions for which the patient will receive a prescription will be ordered in Epic (e.g. EMLA cream, decadron, etc).
