Theserver is running on a terramaster. It was just working fine. I went to the next video and then no sound. Everything works fine in the web app and on everything else. I tested it on my smart tv and cell. Its all working fine, Just not in emby theater.

Thanks for the reply and the help. Here's the picture of the stats of the video I was trying to play. And it doesn't matter what I try to play, Its all the same. No sound at all. I also posted the audio settings of emby.

Well. I found something out. I downloaded the 3.0.19 version. Which when downloaded is just the folder with emby. If I run Emby through there then theres sound. I don't understand it. But maybe it would help solving the problem. Its only when I install emby theater than theres no sound.

I think I found the problem. I have been using a program called FXsound to help boost the sound quality. out of Curiosity, I uninstalled it and reset the sound from the page that you sent me. I then reinstalled Emby Theater and tried it. Everything seems to be working. I don't understand why FXsound would interfere. I've been using that for years. So I will leave it uninstalled for now. Thank you for all your help. Let me know if you have any other Ideas as to why.

have discovered ther's a window but it's blank and fully transparent so it behaves like the machine is locked, but its not, its in fullscreen mode. if you change te focus you can get to he other windows...

My Emby theater just started doing this. When I click it it opens but I see no window. The first time I tried to open it today the window did appear. It disappeared when I tried to maximize it and I haven't seen it again. I tried to reinstall but I receive errors during installation. The condition is the same after a reboot.

Hi, are you still running into this? What version are you running? Try rebooting and then installing the latest version from the website on top of your existing version. Please see if that helps. Thanks !

Doing a full uninstall with removing all traces does not fix it for me. I *have* to use a different resolution than 3840x2160 on my PC otherwise I get the same problem as the OP. Is there a registry artifact being left behind that 'remembers' the resolution I am using???

My issue seems similar to topic 102329 but not exactly the same. I have Emby server running on a QNAP NAS with local and remote clients on iPhone, Windows, , Web interface, Amazon Firestick and apps installed on Sony TVs. This all works perfectly. I am now trying to get Emby Theatre running on a Ubuntu Linux box. Everything appears to be installed correctly and I can see the Emby home screen but I can play any media; Movies, TV-Shows, display pictures etc.

I have a log file which I am attaching it doesn't see to have the messages in at referred to by 102329 related to the video driver but I suspect that need to give you more information to go on. PLease tell me what I need to provide to resolve this. Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I was on vacation. Unfortunately libatomic1 was already installed and the latest version so this has not helped. I'll try the new deb whanit is available. One additional comment is that when I try to play a movie the fanart background is displayed but then nothing further (spinning wheel).

Sorry about the wait, for the longest time I thought I made no progress but it's just that the packages don't play well inside a VM. The flatpak works on my main arch linux machine, since all packages are made from the same binaries it's fair to assume it should translate to the others. Here's a new deb for you to try, for this one it would actually be better to uninstall libatomic1 as I found it would cause issue in my Ubuntu 22.04 VM (might not be the case on an actual system though).

Thank you for the follow up. Unfortunately the new deb has not solved the problem. I am still not able to play any media on emby-theater running under Ubuntu (other configurations run perfectly). My Ubuntu configuration is emby server 4.7.5.0 running on a QNAP NAS firmware 5.0.1.2034 with Emby-theater 3.0.15 running on Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS. I have tried with and without libatomic1 installed.

This is probably irrelevant but I have not yet joined Emby premiere so whenever I try to play any media I have to select the "Play One Minute" option. I have defined NFS paths for all the libraries which I suppose could cause the issue so I will try removing the path definition and update my post with the result.

I have the same prblem.

Server V4.6.4.0 and Theater 3.0.15 on Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS. FireTV and Web runs fine.

I have payed premiere for testing because i would love to play emby on my Homecinema (i hate Kodi )

I have an update. I have removed the (Optional) shared network folder from the library definition on the server; works! I then went back to 3.0.15 and that works too. I assume that there was a problem with my definitions which I am trying to figure out now but odd that all the other clients were OK aside from Ubuntu. I understood that Emby Theater would only use the path if it was available (i.e. works).

@TandT @MartinCheetham can you try redownloading the 3.0.16 .deb and let us know how that compares? We've repackaged it with some library updates. We're also working on a 3.0.17 release with more updates but wanted to do a quick repackaging for now.

Sorry, have not been able to play with this stuff for a while. Yes, it works fine for my X64 system. Am not going to try the arm64 install right now since I don't want to fix what is currently working on that system. Thanks for your efforts.

Today I noticed that I could not get any video streams to play on two of my boxes. Doesn't matter if it's live or a recording. I select the program and click on play and Emby looks like it's going to play it, but all I get is a spinning circle. THIS ONLY OCCURS ON THE TWO MACHINES RUNNING EMBY THEATER I HAVE THAT USE INTEL GRAPHICS. The other machine running Nvidia graphics is unaffected. Also, the WEB app is unaffected. I can open Emby using a web browser on these machines and play video just fine. It's only Emby Theater that has the problem.

I have traced the issue to a system update that was released yesterday. The update is titled "Freedesktop Platform Shared Libraries" version 23.08.13. I restored my machines to a time before that update was installed and Emby works fine. The minute I install that update Emby fails. For the time being I am blacklisting that update on the machines using Intel graphics.

Attached are a couple of photos showing the update in question and system specs of one of my systems that use Intel graphics, as shown by neofetch. The server log is a session where I attempted to play video from the affected Linux client (and failed).

Additional information ... I've been doing some research into this and it looks like this might be a known problem with the latest shared libraries update that I referenced above. I am seeing some scattered reports of people having issues with video hardware acceleration after this update was installed. So it looks like it's not an Emby problem, Emby is just getting caught up in the bug(s) introduced with this update.

I will keep an eye on it and see if there are any subsequent updates to this package that will fix the issue. In the meantime if anyone is using Emby Theater for Linux on a machine with Intel HD graphics I would advise you not to install the update I referenced in the first message.

@LukeIs there a log available for Emby Theater for Linux? The reason I am asking is that further testing on my systems show the only program that I have that is affected by the library update is Emby. VLC and MPV have no problems playing media files with the library update installed.

I have looked at the server log (one is attached) and I don't see anything there that gives me a clue as to where the problem might be. The server seems to receive the request to start playing but nothing happens after that. I never get anything on the server that indicates to me that it is attempting to send video. I would think if it is a video issue at the client the server would at least begin sending a video stream, but as far as I can tell it doesn't.

The attached log shows me attempting to play from a device named "NISE-3720E". That's the client that is running with the updated library installed. The client just shows a spinning circle, the picture never advances past the screen with the overlay.

Right after I attempted to play from the above device I went to another Linux machine that does NOT have the updated library installed. The device is named "M93p-LMDE". I started the playback at around 12:00pm and it played fine.

Update: I removed the flatpak version of Emby, deleted everything in /home/user/.var/app/media.emby.EmbyTheater/config/Emby Theater and then installed using the Debian/Ubuntu/Linux Mint package available on your web site. The problem went away. I successfully installed the updated library and Emby still works fine.

Installed just now on my system that has Intel Graphics. First thing I noticed is no overlay. Video plays, but no overlay at all. Only way out of the video is to hit ESC. Overlay was working on the old version (not Flatpak). I installed using the steps as outlined on your web page. Restarted machine, still no overlay.
