Hello frnds

I am studying an existing distribution netowrk. Can anybody  suggest me the process of calibration in EPANET.

Hello Sanjeeb

What do you mean by calibration, because it could take lots of meanings.
1) You have the data of the geometry and roughness of pipes, valves, pumps and hydr. structures
and having the flow/pressure at some measurement points you want to know check if the system behaves
like you expect.

2) You don't have the data of the pipes and then you have a typical design problem.

3) you have some information and need to enhance understanding of a subsector?

Please let us know what kind of data you have, even available software (MATLAB is a good starting point)
and for example if you have used the Epanet2.0 toolkit before.

And remember calibration becomes an optimization problem so maybe some prior knowledge of Genetic Algorithms
of heuristic algorithms is required due to the characteristics of any Water Distribution Network.

Hello Mario

The distribution network on which I am working is of intermittent type. So I have modified the network and instead of doing demand driven, i am doing pressure driven analysis. I have collected pressure and flow rate values from the field and found a correlation of 0.906 for pressure.

My roughness values are from literature, not  experimental.

Thank you

Hello

Happy new year

1) So what variable you want to change for the calibration process?

2) If your network is intermittent, maybe Epanet per se is not the best alternative. Your problem is pressure driven instead of demand driven.

3) For the optimization problem you'll need almost certainly to use a heuristic algorithm coupled to Epanet (toolkit)

best regards
