I am working on a project dealing with decay in Residual chlorine. As I have the real data for initial chlorine concentration at the reservoir and at the consumer ends, I have calibrated the model to give me these results. Now I was further thinking to model the chlorine behaviour/decay in the storage of the house(sump), Since the supply is once in 3 days and the residual chlorine maintained at the consumer end is 0.13mg/lt the decay taking place at the storage will b only bulk decay.

How to model such system in the EPANET software . Are there any papers related to this type of work.kindly help.

Hi,

You can model chlorine decay in the tank by linking a time pattern you previously, see the image attached. This pattern can be 3 days long or whatever you deem appropriate.

If your doubts are about modelling the decay itself and what to enter in the pattern, see from page 114 on of this book:

That book also covers how to create patterns and how to define chlorine entry points.

I hope it is helpful

Sir, Thank you that was very useful. here what I observe is I have created one reservoir , a tank and an node. As I am trying to model chlorine decay in the sump(which is tank  here) . I would like to kno how can I stop the flow from the reservoir .As I dont want fresh water to get into the sump every time and the notification showing tank is full which I dont want. kindly help
