Name and email address association

MUSE consolidates some email addresses to one person. This is good because many people use several email addresses. However, in some case, the association is not correct. Say, there are 2 Peter Chan in an email archive with 2 different email addresses. MUSE will assume the 2 Peter Chan are the same person and group all emails belong to the 2 Peter Chan together. However, sometimes the 2 Peter Chan are 2 difference person. I suggest

1. MUSE continues using the existing algorithm.

2. We need a new interface to show what email address are associated with who.

3. We need the ability to change the association and MUSE will regroup the emails according to the changes.

I'll squeeze in a quick response btw meetings this morning.

Discovery Module:

It would be nice in to have another view of correspondents maybe that allowed user to see the beginning of email addresses associated with that person. I think MUSE used to allow a roll-over view of emails associated with an individual?

Processing Module: 

Definitely we need to build in the ability to edit the associations / assumptions that are the outcome of algorithms. We would need to do this with entities as well ... even if rationalized in an automated way, the processors (curators/donors) would need ability to sever or make connections if improperly identified.

It was the same with the Groups in MUSE... one wanted the ability to create groups, edit, delete.

Since MUSE already has an interface for people to change group association, could you use the same interface for people email address association?

Hi Peter,

Yes, there is a plan to extend the group editor interface to allow for such capability. I will work on a mock up prototype and update you later once it is ready.
