Updates/Wrap up:

·         SUL will meet separately with Smithsonian (Ricc Ferrante) on Friday, the 22nd.

·         SUL received funding for 8 months to develop prototype of web discovery version of MUSE – currently called ePADD.

·         Current development focus:

o   Security testing

o   Stress test against Henry Lowood’s archive

o   Possible UI work on attachments

·         Google Groups for ePADD/MUSE - https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/epadd

·         Functional Requirements (google docs) - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r70KgFK2xZlfegPonDxikpUUolWjHP4dh5wpCRhscs4/edit?usp=sharing

·         Next steps:

o   Functional requirements – comments, discussion, examples, etc. due by end of March

o   Everyone will send Peter the email address they would prefer to be used in our Google Group account – this will be used for all emails regarding the project

o   Glynn will send out a new Doodle Poll next week to set up a meeting scheduled at the end of March

o   April – priority setting (by all of us) and estimates of effort (by Sudheendra and Sit)

o   May – finalize priorities & work on UI (Balsamiq?)

Questions/Comments:

These are not in any order. Also for your information - MUSE had incorporated some of the functionality that has been developed for ePADD.

·         Where / how are unique IDs generated

·         Entities are extracted from attachments – what file types are supported currently?

·         Use cases for bulk search

·         MUSE uses MBOX format; we have been using Emailchemy to convert other formats to MBOX

·         Manchester may be interested in looking at MUSE/ePADD – Susan will put them in touch with us.

·         Does the entity extraction handle other languages? Which ones? What does it do when it encounters unsupported languages? [Peter will set up meeting with NLP & Columbia during LibDevConX in March]

·         Where will FTK sit in the process with email archives?

·         How will email archives/metadata by preserved? [Copenhagen had the same question – they will also be at LibDevConX]

·         Reading Room version of MUSE/ePADD will deliver attachements using Quick View Plus.

If I’ve left anything out please let me know!

I have a question for everyone:
Who wants/needs to be in the doodle poll for our next phone meeting re functional requirements?
The next meeting will be in late April to discuss effort & priority setting and start the wire frame/UI drafts.
Thanks,
Glynn
