Title: Dark matter and search techniques
======
Abstract:
Dark Matter constitutes the bulk of the matter in the Universe, yet it is
not discovered. Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP) is believed to
be the best candidate to make up dark matter, based on astrophysical data
and standard model particle physics. I will introduce dark matter search
techniques, focusing on Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (CDMS) experiment. I
will describe various detector R&D that our group at Texas A&M University
is performing for substantially improving dark matter detectors and its
relevance in context of improving CDMS sensitivity. Lessons learned can be
fruitfully implemented for rapid R&D phase for the proposed dark matter
experiment in the INO Lab.
