Dear EOP-Developers,

I'm trying to use P1EDA with GermaNet as lexical resource.
I'm trying to use Germanet V 11.
I have provided the correct path to GermaNet.
Now I get the following error:

Caused by: eu.excitementproject.eop.common.exception.ComponentException: Cannot initialize GermaNet.
        at eu.excitementproject.eop.core.component.lexicalknowledge.germanet.GermaNetWrapper.<init>(GermaNetWrapper.java:138)
        at eu.excitementproject.eop.core.component.alignment.lexicallink.wrapped.GermaNetDELinker.<init>(GermaNetDELinker.java:34)
        ... 4 more
Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No enum constant de.tuebingen.uni.sfs.germanet.api.CompoundProperty.freiesMorphem

        at de.tuebingen.uni.sfs.germanet.api.SynsetLoader.loadSynsets(SynsetLoader.java:78)
        at de.tuebingen.uni.sfs.germanet.api.StaxLoader.load(StaxLoader.java:106)
        at de.tuebingen.uni.sfs.germanet.api.GermaNet.load(GermaNet.java:283)
        at de.tuebingen.uni.sfs.germanet.api.GermaNet.<init>(GermaNet.java:249)
        at de.tuebingen.uni.sfs.germanet.api.GermaNet.<init>(GermaNet.java:175)
        at eu.excitementproject.eop.core.component.lexicalknowledge.germanet.GermaNetWrapper.<init>(GermaNetWrapper.java:132)

In the code I have read that the provided GermaNetWrapper is for GermaNet V8.
Does this mean that the wrapper is not compatible with higher versions of GermaNet or is the error caused by something else?
Is there another wrapper that can support GermaNet V11?

Thank you very much in advance,
Glorianna

Hello,

I've just asked one of the EOP developers who is more confident than me using this type of resource. I've reported her answer below

Best
Roberto

===================================================================================================
if I remember correctly, GermaNet has associated  a class that enumerates the relations that are considered when a resource of that type is loaded (it is called GermaNetRelation.java). If the new version of GermaNet has different relations, then that class should probably get updated. Based on the messages in the error trace I'd say that's the problem. If it is not, then I can't tell from just looking at the error.

Hi Roberto,

thanks for the quick reply.
I've found a GermaNet V8 and am using it with this now.
I don't get a runtime error but the GermaNet linker seems to find no alignments at all.
I was wondering if you could give me an example T-H-pair ID of the German-RTE development or test data where GermaNet should find an alignment, that would be very helpful.

Many thanks in advance and best wishes,
Glorianna
