OPINION ESSAY: Learning language self-help books are essential to
language learning process.
It is a well-known fact that there are lots of methods to learn a new
language. Nowadays more and more people trust them in order to learn a
foreign language fast. As a consequence of that, we wonder whether it
is worth investing money and time choosing the “self-help books”. It
seems to us that they are useful but not essential in a language
learning process.
Firstly, this kind of books is a perfect system for people that are
not really into the new language. For instance, people who have never
studied a foreign language before and need to get better quickly, or
simply because they find the learning process hard or boring.
But, on the other hand, we think that this kind of methods are quite
repetitive and useless, especially to anyone who already has a good
level at the chosen language and want to improve it. Arguably, we
think that these methods make you to be aware of the fact that
learning is easy only if you know how to carry it out, and maybe lots
of people know that stuff already.
To sum up, we think that self-help books are useful to improve or to
start learning a new language only if you are not learning in a proper
way. However, they are not essential tools for people who already have
some knowledge of a foreign language.
