Dear TIC teachers, educators, and friends,
Happy 2024! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and New Year’s celebration. As your trout continue to grow, they require more maintenance. This is a great time to check and clean your filters and continue with weekly water changes (replace 20% of the tank water with de-chlorinated, cool water). Additional instructions on tank maintenance can be found here, and troubleshooting tips can be found here.
It’s hard to believe, but it’s already time to start planning your spring trout releases! In the attached newsletter, you will find information on completing the NY Trout Release Permit Application, the Spring TIC Teacher Conference on March 15 (register here!), and NYC DEP’s Water Resources Art and Poetry Contest. If you have experienced a trout catastrophe, or have extra trout to spare, make sure to fill out our Trout Swap Form.
Please keep an eye out for the February newsletter, which will have more information on trout release field trip planning. As always, please reach out anytime with questions, comments, or concerns.
All the best,
Nicki
