Dear TIC teachers, partners, and friends,

Most of our brown trout are now swimming and eating, and our brook trout are starting to hatch. It’s hard to imagine that in just a few months they will all be on their own in our watershed streams!

Please see attached for our Trout in the Classroom December e-newsletter.  You’ll find important reminders about preparing for winter break, grant deadlines, and upcoming program opportunities.  Keep a look out for the January e-newsletter which will include information about planning your spring trout release field trip and the Spring TIC Conference!

We’ve recently had a few schools experience trout tragedies and some with too many trout for their tanks, so we’ve organized a Google spreadsheet – TIC Trout Exchange.  You can add your information (if you need trout or are willing to spare trout) and use this spreadsheet to connect with another school in your area, if needed. The Cold Spring Harbor Hatchery on Long Island currently has brook trout eyed eggs available for pickup as well.  You can reach out to Krissy at kri...@cshfishhatchery.org.

If you still need trout food mailed to your school, please email educati...@dep.nyc.gov.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy holiday season!

Robin
