Hello TIC Teachers!
The Fall TIC Conference and Egg Distribution is next week on Thursday, October 8th at the FDR Library and Museum in Hyde Park, NY (4079 Albany Post Rd, Hyde Park, NY 12538)!
Check out the attached conference agenda for a preview of the workshops and to help plan your day.
For the egg pick up at the conference, please be sure to bring the following items:
Trout eggs are extremely fragile and will need to be put into the tank the same day they are received. Place the trout egg jar in your aquarium for 10 minutes to acclimate temperature before gently pouring them into the nest basket. Be careful not to contaminate tank water with soap or hand sanitizer.
If you are unable to attend the conference, the Cold Spring Harbor Trout Hatchery on Long Island will be offering trout egg pick-up on November 6th at the Newtown Creek Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Please fill out this form if you are unable to attend the conference and want to pick up eggs on November 6th.
There are also two NYS Department of Environmental Conservation fish hatcheries that will have eggs available; the Catskill Hatchery in Livingston Manor, NY and the Bath Hatchery in Bath, NY. Please reach out to me and I will put you in touch with the DEC to coordinate a pickup at the hatchery.
Feel free to reach out anytime with questions!
Swimmingly yours,
