Hello:

Our lab is doing some research works with Hyperion Hyperspectral data and need to buy some new EO-1 Hyperion acquisition scenes. After reading the Important Notice on the EO-1 website, I find that the fee structure for acquiring EO-1 image data and the format of the distributed data have changed a lot. Now I’m a little bit confused about the changes and writing for advices.

1. We've bought some scenes of Hyperion data in 2005 and 2006, and the format of the imagery is L1R. So, all of our algorithms designed at that time were based on the L1R format data.

But the format of the free distributed imagery is GeoTiff now. I downloaded several scenes of the GeoTiff data, and found that our algorithm cannot process the imagery correctly. That probably means our algorithms are not useable for the GeoTiff format. That’s really a disaster for us…

So, can we get L1R format imagery now? If the answer is yes, how?

If we can’t, how to translate GeoTiff format to L1R format?

2. I also found on the website writes “there are no guarantees of acquisition”.

However, for the needs of our research, we have to get some new Hyperion data at a specified time (about April or May of 2010) and place (our area of interest), and the Hyperion imagery is very important to our project.

So I wonder how I can get the guarantee of my acquisition.

What can we do to ensure getting the imagery on time?

Can I achieve this purpose by purchasing the imagery as before?

I will be really appreciated if you could give me some advices. I am looking forward to your early reply.

Best regards
