Hi,

Every Friday for the last year Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg has left her classroom to strike for the climate. She has inspired a new generation of climate activists - millions, in over 160 countries - demanding urgent action.

The power of recent mobilisations has woken the world - in Europe alone they’ve forced climate emergency declarations, and made leaders unlock billions of euros for the climate. [1] Now young people are calling on all of us to join them for their biggest mobilisation yet, on the 20th - 27th September.

Imagine what’s possible if thousands of us leave our homes and workplaces to join forces with these young people fighting for the future? Will you join them on 20th - 27th September?

In what is likely to be the biggest mobilisation for the climate ever, in under two weeks we can add our numbers to a movement calling for a transition fairly and swiftly away from fossil fuels while building a vision for a future that puts people and planet first.

And Europe could be a leader in this fight to save our planet. A new EU Commission is about to take its seat, and seeing Europe's streets overflowing with people demanding climate action, can drive the climate emergency further up their agenda.

“We’re asking adults to step up alongside us… Step out of your comfort zone to make this a turning point in our history. This is about crossing lines – it’s about rebelling wherever one can rebel.” - Greta Thunberg and youth strikers [2]

So, will you step outside your comfort zone to stand up for our shared home?

Joining this mobilisation symbolises everything our community stands for: acting in solidarity with movements across Europe to fight for a better future for all. Because of this, the staff at We Move Europe will be joining the strikes in their local towns - we hope you’ll join us by attending a strike near you!

In solidarity,

Fatima (London), Virginia (Madrid), Alex (Marseille), and the We Move Europe team

P.S If you need more inspiration as to why you should join these strikes, watch this video from Greta herself.
