Hi all

Thank you to those who joined for a fruitful and important discussion last week. Please find attached/linked:

  1. Notes of the second webinar
  2. Recording of the second webinar (apologies - the start is missing – we had some technical issues): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kKuKujjL34LtHurKTUr39WbmqbY31rdJ/view?usp=sharing

You can find all the materials from both webinars on google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1rfJTEEEtth4b9-6xORYo4Jq_PbYCSbwJ?usp=sharing (I’ve also put in our BECCS position as background).

Next steps:

  • If you haven’t already please complete our short 1.5 questionnaire in English, Spanish or French – this will help inform our position, though it is just one of several inputs. Deadline 6 August.
  • CJE coordinators will circulate a draft 1.5 position document in August – this will consist of two parts: a background political position and suggestions for messaging – there will be wide consultation around this to enable us to reach agreement so we can move into more outward facing media messaging, memes and infographics etc ahead of the IPCC Report.
  • CJE coordinators will also be having a 1.5 degrees call with members of the activities committee of FoEI’s Excom, hopefully also in August.
  • CJE coordinators are exploring a piece of research with Sivan Kartha looking at global 1.5 degree pathways that focus on our solutions and don’t rely on technologies we disagree with (nuclear, big hydro, BECCS etc). This is likely to be ready for the COP with some findings available earlier.

Many thanks all for your participation and contributions!

Sara
